I'm wondering any of you who work on your feet all day have a favorite shoe you have that is the best and you just feel is superior.

I've been wearing desert boots with arch inserts since I was 12 (about 40 years) and never had any problems.

I had a dream about putting shoes on over a pair of tongs
I don't think they would qualify for this thread
overtongs don't sound comfortable

That's a generic type. Probably dozens of brands make them (including Rockport which has already been mentioned). I think my favorite was Hush Puppies but more sentimentality than reality.

I used to use Dr. Scholl's inserts for many, many years. It was an adjustable version - leather with little pockets you could add cork pieces as needed.

But since I tried gel arches about five years ago, that's the ticket now.

What about sneakers?

What about sneakers?

I've almost never been able to get a good fit on sneakers. My feet are too narrow and arches too high.

The only pair I ever had that fit right was a brand called K-Swiss back in the early '70s. The company didn't last, though.

[edit] I just GOOGLED them - I see they're back. I'll have to check them out again.

Eccos work for me. They are a little pricey and they will make you look like Euro-trash, but they are pretty comfy for a casual leather shoe.

I've had a pair of Nike Shox that I wear pretty much every day for something like 3 years. I've worn them camping, to concerts, etc. and they still are in great shape and don't look like 3 year old shoes. They cost over $100 but it's been worth it for a shoe that has lasted that long.

I bought some shox and liked them but in the plant it was kinda rough on them and the mesh pulled away at the toes. I'm a maint. tech and all the positions i put on my shoes wear them, but not from dirt water or anything.
I have went through 2 pairs of new balance country walkers from cabelas, but they seem to wear fast too.

I tried both Rockports and Eccos on in the store and there was no comparison. Rockports felt like wooden boxes in comparison to the Eccos.

I'd love to find someplace that sells Eccos. Problem is, I have a wide foot. Anyplace in KC carry 'em?

I'm a fan of New Balance for work. They have shoes in a wide price range, and for the most part you get what you pay for in terms of comfort. I do use arch supports after about 4 months of breaking in. What I like is they seem to be consistent, so year after year, the shoes I buy for $X always fit similar, even if the styles change.

My dad swears by ecco. I want to try them but can't force myself to shell out the cash.

I'm currently wearing merril shoes, which are as pricey as I can bring myself to wear with some pimpshit arch supports.

I wear heavy boots for my job. But if I had a job that demanded I stand on a hard surface all day, I'd find a good pair of running shoes.

If I was pimping...I wear them boots that Bwana posted! :D

Eccos are easily the most comfortable decent looking leather shoe I have ever owned.

Not sure on the KC one but I have seen them in Dillards. Since they are a bit pricey I just try them on a the store to figure out my size (make note of the Euro size) and buy them online.

I'm weird, for regular chilling nothing but Reebok Classics, I have like 30 pairs in different colors.

when it comes to running and cross training it's only Nike running sneakers.

Then when it comes to game day and football season, I don't wear any other cleat but Reebok again.....
