It actually says 'throttle free'. not automatic throttle.

acts like its runnin lean. took the air filter off, messed w/ the throttle position. put my hand over the intake and it ran.

The springs for the throttle position seem real loose. like zero tension.

I would assume this would have some bearing on the throttle position but it still fired up after i mess w/ the actual throttle.

gas & oil are new, carb is clean, air filter looks good.

any thoughts?

Does it have a primer bulb? I chased a fuel gremlin once and it turned out to be that.

ya the primer has vaccum. it acts like it starts out w/ zero throttle. So i give it manual throttle when i pull start it and then let off and it fires. Vaccum comes on an the throttle position stays where it should.

Those little guys are tricky, one lunger, made as cheap as possible. On that engine the airfilter is everything. This is one reason it runs with your hand over it, as it is too lean with it off. I suspect that it needs some more resistance in the air filter, was the filter oil soaked originally?

You've checked your fuel line, I'm guessing...

Didnt see it org. my boss got it 'tuned up' and they said it was running. got it to the shop and no go. filter seems fairly debris free.

edit- once it kicks over ill let my hand off and itll run fine. put the filter back on and no problems. let it run for abit and get warm itll start 1st couple pulls.
let it get cold for 20 minutes and you have to jack w/ the throttle/intake again.
Almost like its not wanting to get vaccum till i jack w/ it.

Shell run wide open when i manually jack with the throttle. once it kicks over the vaccum appears to run true allowing the throttle to do the same.

I have had that problem on these things, but if it is a foam rubber air filter, I would put some oil on it.

cleaned the vent holes on the gas cap and oiled the filter. My woman mowed w/ it for about 30 minutes untill the gas ran out. put fresh gas in it ran it about another 30 minutes. Got up the morning and gave it acouple shots and she kicked over 4th pull.

Glad it worked for you Mo.

Gotta love Bolts and Scrap Iron :D.

We have a Honda motor on a 2" pump and it was giving us fits the other day. Dad and I don't know what we did, but we got it running again. Those little motors are damn touchy.
