Tom Cable denies discussing adding Terrell Owens
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on May 19, 2010 10:22 AM ET
Picking up Terrell Owens is a move that would be consistent with previous Raiders signings.
But Raiders coach Tom Cable denied an ESPN report (http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/raiders/detail?blogid=11&entry_id=63872#ixzz0oNwPgGCa) that said the team has internally discussed adding Owens.
"We really haven't had any discussion about that," Cable said on KNBR Tuesday. "We've got a good, young receiving corps, it's never been a point of conversation."
That group includes two solid young talents in Chaz Schilens (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=4964) and Louis Murphy (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=5214). Oakland also seems intent on playing Darrius Heyward-Bey (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=5093) as a starter, even if it's clear Murphy is a superior player.
We think Owens will find a team. He can still help someone if he lowers his contract demands.
But there really is no logical fit out there, especially if the Raiders don't want to take him on.
Don't look like it will happen to me
