Rain Man's Smellympics were a smashing success, with bacon being crowned the winner.

Now we're going to turn it on it's head and find the ultimate movie badass.

Use this thread to nominate ONE action hero from any decade. The only stipulation is that the character be an ACTION hero. We don't want something retarded like Matthew Broderick's character from Godzilla ending up squaring off against Rambo. Women (Sarah Connor, Ellen Ripley) are OK. Please nominate CHARACTERS and not ACTORS. Multiple characters played by the same actor will be permitted. No cartoons.

ONE nomination per person. We'll do 32 or 64, depending on how the entries shape up.

My nomination: JOHN FUCKING RAMBO.

The terminator is a damn robot.

He's programmed to kill stuff. As such, he gets no points for 'balls' and therefore can't win.

If you zero out a key category while John Wayne is busy holding reigns with his teeth and twirling pump action rifles while riding into 4 armed men, you lose.

Yeah, the Terminator would kick John Wayne's ass, but so would ****ing Gandolf, so that doesn't exactly count.

Robots in this contest are shenanigans.

Kyle Reese gets balls points for fighting a robot, man points for nailing his boss's mom and badass points for killing Ahnold.

Does it top the Duke killing Tom Hagen and Hawk (don't forget that Rooster was in 2 movies); probably while drunk both time? Maybe, maybe not.

Leaving it at Connery is cool. I'd have leaned toward Craig but he's only done 2 movies. While the amount of action was much more frantic I think Connery might beat him out since he had more movies in which to whip ass.

well, I respectfully disagree but it's your poll so you can make the rules as you see fit. :)

Leaving it at Connery is cool. I'd have leaned toward Craig but he's only done 2 movies. While the amount of action was much more frantic I think Connery might beat him out since he had more movies in which to whip ass.

I think it's pretty clear there are differences in Bond based on who's playing him.

Roger Moore wouldn't stand a chance in this tournament.

I don't recall anything creepy about 2010.

The ending of 2001 was and is one of the most annoying movie moments ever.

This. And the acting was straight out of an Ed Wood movie.

Overrated piece of crap. I'll never understand why all the FilmSnobs wet themselves over it. Groundbreaking special effects and nothing else. It sucked in '68 and it sucked in '79 when they called it Star Trek The Motion Picture.

Yeah but for purposes of forthcoming polls we'll need to know what iteration of James Bond it was.

It seems like if different actors played the same character, then they should each get a nomination. So you could have a Connery Bond and a Moore Bond and perhaps even a Niven Bond if they were all nominated.

I sure hope someone nominates that kid from The Last Starfighter.

I think Superman should be disallowed because...he's Superman.

Batman has a lot of movies. I'm going to allow Batman, but like Bond, we must specify the actor. Probably want to go with Bale to compete.

Other potential nominations:

Aragorn
Legolas
Gandalf
Michael Knight
MacGyver
Buck Rogers

It's like...if you take any of the and pit them against a Terminator, game over.

But if you take the whole team and give them a half hour, some PVC, a lawnmower and some plywood, and they'd take the T-1000 out easy.
