Good, he can just stay there and be a hometown hero. We all know what happens when he gets to the "big team".
I guess pitchers in AAA don't know how to throw a slider down against him?

As soon as his glove in the outfield is not a total embarassment, Gordon needs to come up ASAP. Even if his OPS falls all the way down to the .725 range, that would still be a welcome addition. If nothing else, hitting well in KC for half a year would improve his trade value.

I wouldn't bring him up for a long while. Then again, maybe time in AAA will help him like it did Billay since he pretty much skipped AAA altogether.
That being said, I like Pods but he for sure isn't a long term answer. I would be looking to trade him, Guillen and Ankiel if possible. Though if I have to keep any of them I keep Pods. And if we can pawn Meche off onto someone then all the better. Trade Yuni too, while you're at it. I'll take Getz's weak bat and above AVG defense and live with Avilles at SS.

I would love to see us get some value for Gordon. Callaspo has been looking pretty good as our 3B.
I wonder if Callaspo will get moved to the OF next year, when we lose...pretty much everyone.
DeezNutz
05-27-2010, 01:02 PM
I agree that Gordon needs to be here, even if that means "learning" the outfield on the fly.
In the outfield, Callaspo would be '10 Guillen, without the live arm. Dude is not very athletic at all.

Meche actually seems more valuable to us than his trade value would be. He's looked somewhat decent recently, but his reputation right now is so bad we'd have to pay someone to take him off our hands.

AC is fine where he is. His bat is worth finding a place in the lineup. I don't want to get rid of him. Especially for fucking Gordon!

Dude, he has had 1 1/2 good outings all season. He gave up 4 HR's in 5 innings in his last outing. I think he has gone past 5 innings all of twice.
Not worth $11 mil a year.

Now, Farnsworth on the other hand has actually started to earn his pay. I cannot complain about his last couple outings. He has been pretty solid. Still not worth the $'s we are paying him, though.

"Even if Gordon is over-matched upon being promoted to the big leagues, a demotion could set back his development. Royals GM Dayton Moore has already shown that he intends to handle Gordon carefully, virtually eliminating any chance that the young third baseman will be forced to deal with multiple demotions like (Aubrey) Huff. 1. Sit down in a real comfy chair
2. Close your eyes
3. Relax, imagine a very calm serene place
4. Raise your right hand very slowly and make a fist
5. Now, very, very carefuly but with extreme force

If Yost gets a revelation, he can take a magic marker to Kendall's name once every 4 days. The rest of the lineup looks good.

I thought it was just Hillman being a retard, but it hasn't changed under Yost

Your guess is good as ours.
Organizational brain damage? Kendall has embarassing pictures of Dayton Moore? It isn't that Pena is obviously better, it is that Kendall is obviously not in our future and we have no friggen clue how good Pena is yet. The season is lost and we are throwing away a chance to find out about him.
Seriously though, it is probably lingering silliness that the catcher helps the pitching staff. That isn't just the Royals, a lot of teams buy into that craziness, it is part of the entrenched baseball religion alongside the commandment that "thy best reliever shalt pitch only during close leads in the 9th inning".

great baserunning pods. I like the SB, but come on, why don't you tag up on a fly to very deep center at Fenway? If its a home run or he doesnt catch it it doesn't matter much.

and there's the predictable wild pitch/passed ball from a pitcher who cant find the strike zone. Unless Guillen gets a hit, we lost a run.
Yeah that didn't work out. Although the NESN guys defended Podsednik there. Said you would've tried to tag up with 0 outs, but he made the right move with 1 out.
I don't know if they'll go back to it or flip around... but they were showing the game on MLB Network because the Mets game is in a rain delay.

Moustakas is also done for the day after 1 at-bat (strikeout). No clue what is up with that, hope he isn't hurt.

Promotion to AAA?
dont know. The inning before all I saw was an infield single hit to him, but doesn't look like that would have hurt him, because he stayed in for the 3rd out. It's odd because when they pulled him for defense in the bottom of the 3rd, he was scheduled to lead off the 4th.

I asked the NW Naturals twitter, they responded........
NW_Ark_Naturals
Mike Moustakas left game 2inn after banging a wall while chasing a foul ball. being on the road, we won't know anymore until tomorrow.
NW_Ark_Naturals
removal of Moustakas appeared to be precautionary and did not look serious in any way.

Go add your ps3 handle to the ps3 thread in media center so they can add it to the overall CP list...you'll probably want to practice first, it took me some time to get the hang of it.

He's played like 7 innings, so that isn't a big indicator of anything. But it would be nice if we found a good reliever.

True, but he has come into 8 games and only given up 1 run. I can live with that after everything this team has been through this year.

Omaha won their game on a walkoff. Gordon and Kila didn't do much, but reaching twice in 4 appearances is a good day in my book.

"We were going to pull him [Bannister] around the 100 pitch count."
"I just told them to load 'em up again. I felt great about our ABs." --in response to if there was panic after missed opportunity early.
What's this feeling? The beginning of man crush on the new Royals manager???

I had thought for sure that we blew our chance to win when we didn't score 1 run with bases loaded and 0 outs.

I like Yosts track record over that old fart buddy bells. Yost has a swagger about him that the last few managers haven't. Who knows where it will go, but i like what ive seen so far.

Yost seems consistent with his decisions. trey was bunt when your down 6 one day, swing away in a tie game the next, small ball then not. and the bullpen management has improved no question

I dont expect this team to win, period. I don't expect much at all from a manager of the Kansas City Royals. Trey failed to meet even my very low expectations, while Yost is clearing the hurdle easily.
Yost realizes he is in the American League and doesn't like "small-ball" (that is HUGE, we have suffered through an insane parade of managers who want to play for one run), and he has at least some vague idea that making your pitchers throw too many pitches is bad (Meche asked him for one more inning when he already threw a crazy number of pitches in a good start some game back I don't remember, Yost immediately said no).
This team could lose 103 games this season and I'd already be perfectly fine with giving him a 3 or 4-year contract at the end of the year.
