Looks like the pipe hasn't been cut clean. hmm. bent up.i think they were planning on trying to use the bend to clog it up with junk.

who knows ... it shouldn't take this long to try new things. They should be trying something new every dam day.

i wonder if the U.S. suspended all their drilling permits etc until the leak is fixed if they would be more motivated to get it closed.

They should have hydraulic rammed that f****ER close month ago.

Either by pushing a plug in or squeezing it shut. We have rams that can squeeze carbon into diamonds. Bill Nye (science guy) said on CNN that the metal is drill pipe and made of hard steel that might crack. But anyone that has melted metal knows if you get it warm enough it might not crack. Heat it and squeeze it shut.

Yeah, my first thought was a hydraulic cap rammed down the whole... that was literally my FIRST thought when I heard it. It's amazing that googlegoogle and I are brighter than BP's finest.

i don't know if being a mile under water would kill any hydraulic type pincher/rams.

i find it very hard to believe there isn't something that can close/seal it

Basically another version of blowout preventer.

The gov and BP have looked weak.
