View Full Version : Life Any hobby suggestions for recovering from surgery?

My dad had bypass surgery a week and a half ago and is now recovering at home. Overall, he's doing really well, but now that the stream of phone calls and visitors is starting to taper off, he's starting to get really bored.

When healthy, he basically spent his free time working on the house and yard or fishing. As in, he would sometimes fish up to 5 days a week by going out after work. Unfortunately, he won't be able to do any of that again for at least a month.

Anyway, any suggestions for some possible hobbies I should suggest to him? He's 59, and he's not much of a computer type, so these would need to be offline hobbies. Right now, he's spending his time primarily watching the birds at his bird feeder, watching TV, and reading.

Any suggestions welcome.

maybe get him a starter kit for tying flies?

Buy some old reals for him to repair, a fishing video game...something like that.

The starter kit is a pretty good idea. He does fly fish, but I don't think he's ever tied his own. Gracias.

You might introduce him to the fun and endlessly fascinating hobby of Kiturbation, Mr. DaFace. It's a combination of kite flying and masturbation.

One simply builds a box kite out of balsa wood, craft glue, and heavy wrapping paper (all of which are readily available at any well stocked hobby store) in the shape of an enormous vulva. Then, one takes one's kite to the park and flies it with the string firmly tied to one's penis. With any luck, the vision of the large, floating vulva hovering gently amongst the clouds combined with intermittent changes in the prevailing winds, will provide the hobbyist with countless hours of personal enjoyment.

P.S. Before enjoying an afternoon of Kiturbation, it is wise to check the local weather. A sudden, unexpected thunderstorm can dampen the spirits of even the most experienced Kiturbation enthusiast.
