Negative. The biggest problem is still an overwhelming lack of talent. When teams change managers, there's typically a bump in level of play in the short term.

Now, don't get me wrong. Yost is definitely a major upgrade, but there's only so many ways he'll be able to prepare chicken salad.

Meanwhile, Strasburg looks like Superman on a pitcher's mound. I didn't get caught up in the hype...wanted to see him on the MLB stage. The Pirates offense is terrible, but Strasburg's stuff is pure filth. 99 MPH fastball that he can spot, 90 MPH changeup and a couple of different knee buckling curve balls. And his mechanics are clean. Scary part is that he could add a little bit of weight and add a tick or two on his fastball.

If he maintains the command he's shown throughout his career, there haven't been many with his arsenal for anyone to see. I know what you're saying, and hitters will adapt a bit, but there's a point where all the adapting in the world won't prepare hitters for this.

First outing....I'm sure he's pretty juiced trying to line up the K's. Interesting to see as the season goes on if he settles in and keeps the fastball down and gets some groundballs early in the count.

The funniest conversation in my head while watching Strasburg tonight was that his stuff is wicked... he has a chance to blow up on the scene maybe better than anyone going back to Kerry Wood. But he has an advantage over Wood because he won't have the same manager that ran up his pitch counts and helped lead to him blowing his arm out.

It is not like he was getting a ton of support last year. Zack has simply regressed to the mean this year. He is back to being what he has been for his career. People have career years all the time, Zack just had his last year and now we expect greatness all the time. I don't think the kid has the mental make up to be a all time great like a Steve Carlton, Nolan Ryan, Maddux and those types. Those guys were mentally tough, Zack has already shown he is not.

Zack has a career era of 3.76 and Whip of 1.27 which is close to what he has this year of 4.05 and 1.30. He is just normalizing after last year.
