'Stomach Issue' Was Tony Moeaki's Injury At The Start Of OTAs (http://www.arrowheadpride.com/2010/6/24/1534970/stomach-issue-was-tony-moeakis)
http://cdn0.sbnation.com/profile_images/240996/headshot_tiny.jpg by Joel Thorman (http://www.sbnation.com/users/Joel%20Thorman) on Jun 24, 2010 1:26 PM PDT (http://www.arrowheadpride.com/2010/6/24/1534970/stomach-issue-was-tony-moeakis) in 2010 Kansas City Chiefs Season (http://www.arrowheadpride.com/section/2010-campaign) http://cdn3.sbnation.com/images/icons/comment.v1599.png 23 comments
Chiefs (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/teams/KAN) rookie tight end Tony Moeaki (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/108522/Tony_Moeaki) practiced at the Chiefs rookie minicamp the week after the draft at the end of April but didn't see the field again until June 7.
Chiefs coach Todd Haley wouldn't elaborate on why he was out only saying that it was no big deal. Haley never comments on injuries when he doesn't have to.
So what was the reason for his absence?
"He had a stomach issue," Moeaki's agent, Jack Bechta, told Bob Fescoe of 610 Sports on Thursday morning. "It was internal. I don't know exactly what it was but it was borderline. He could have gone. He did go at the end there in the last week."
Bechta says Moeaki will be "fine" for the start of training camp.
Bectha, putting on the agent hat, went on to say that the Chiefs made a great decision drafting Moeaki. "If he played at a SEC school, or a place that put the ball in the air a bunch -- you gotta remember, he played at Iowa in the Big 10 where I think they throw the ball 15 times a game -- he would've been a first round pick."
Sounds like he had the shits.

Wonder if he'll miss a week of training camp with a hangnail?
Maybe he actually had anal fissures but decided that "stomach issues" sounded better.

For all the shit Croyle gets around here - a guy who reportedly had either a lacerated or bruised kidney in the first half of the Raiders game - pissed blood in the locker room - then took a painkilling injection at halftime and finished the game - he's a pussy.
But the guy that missed 50% of his team's game in college - then proceeds to miss 9/15 OTA practices - and conveniently returns for the "mandatory" practices will have excuse after excuse made for him.
Awesome.

Pretty amazing the shit people will come up with to get pissed off.
He sat out of OPTIONAL training camps because he wasn't 100%. He sat out of actual games because of legit injuries.
Criticize him for being injury prone. To call him a pussy for not practicing when he's not 100% and it obviously didn't bother any coaches, give me a fucking break.
If he starts missing mandatory games because of hangnails, fine. I don't recall people giving a shit that Berry missed the first few practices too for an undisclosed injury.

You know I think you are correct, sort of.
Once Moeaki doesn't finish half the games he starts (when able to get on the field) after being injury prone in college and HS, he will then have reached the level of Brokie.
To give Moeaki that much credit already when he has yet to even have a chance to miss his first pro game really isn't fair to Croyle.

No shit. A guy takes a couple of days for "stomach flu", coach makes a rookie sit out a couple extra days because he pulled the stomach flu card on his first practice out.
Nevermind - that doesn't make any sense at all. Guy probably needs surgery for some "undisclosed stomach issue". Put him on the IR. (can we do that yet?)
BTW- I think you have to suck it up and go, which slants him toward puss IMO.

Im sure your gonna call it an excuse, but what if the possibility is out there that you and I dont know dick about what is the real issue here and the coaches held him out of practice? I mean, Haley praised him when he came back. Pretty sure that if it was all bologna, as some in this thread are suggesting, he would be in Haleys doghouse... not running with the first team offense.

When his agent says that it was "borderline" and that "he could have been there" - and wasn't - it speaks volumes.
There's a huge difference between being injured and missing 9 practices over a stomach issue - especially when your own agent says he could have been there.

yeah, but its not like he said "he could have been there but chose to stay home and not practice"
To me "he could have been there" means he was held out of practice. Otherwise one would have to assume he earned a one way trip to Haleys doghouse...not running with the ones and accepting praise.

As one who could be facing said bag, that is really offensive and crass
I'm sorry it was a little crass. Exposing your colon bag to the public is messed up though.
I do wish you the best and hope that your health takes a turn for the better.

That is true. If/when I have this bag I will NOT be showing it to the world, my hubby will be not seeing it either if I can help it
