Jeff Suppan? I would have thought the Cardinals would have had a better option vs Greinke.

Sort of a hijack...

Philly at Toronto has been relocated to Philly with the Blue Jays as home team, DH, etc. Ryan Howard is the Phils' DH and (Royals fans will love this) the 1B is Ross Gload.

And Gload just drove in a run.

Yost has been a HUGE improvement over Hillman, but his handling of Kendall is mind boggling.

Dude should not be playing every......fucking.......game and sure as hell shouldn't be hitting second.

zack only had a little something to do with that, the Cardinals are hacking away today. They apparently decided that there's little point in working the count since Zack is going to attack the plate. That only works if you get the hits, if you don't, you flirt with a shutout.

I'll have to disagree here. 99% of the time, I'm with you, but I don't even care if the pitcher is only 22 years old in his rookie season, pitchers do not get chances at a no-hitter every day. You keep him in, send him to the trainer afterward, and plan to skip his next start.

Pitching is a risk in general. It's a unnatural motion. A hurler can blow his arm out in the bullpen.

Fans pay good money to watch pro baseball, they shouldn't be given a watered down product because of gun shy wussies like you with no balls.

well, if we are only talking about a mere complete game or shutout, you pull him way before 149 pitches. A win (which you'll probably get anyway) is not worth trashing a multi-million dollar arm.

However, no-hitters and perfect games are different. pitchers can take some very occasional abuse here and there.

You won't get any arguments from me here.

The 25-and-under crowd are the ones who should be limited to a strict 110 pitch count though.

When a pitcher matures, I would like to see managers push them a little more. I don't have a problem watching Roy Halladay or C.C. Sabathia get stretched out to 125-130 pitches occassionally.

I was fine with pulling him. Greinke had his chance, and even got a mulligan after the interference. At 2nd and 3rd no out, the shutout is basically gone anyway, and we were getting to the point where Yost needed to worry about nailing down the win.
