View Full Version : Home and Auto AC-furnace vents question. Ammonia smell with AC on.

Anyone have this problem? Smell is ammonia like. Vents need cleaning?Only happens with AC on though.

If it's like a car, you can get some bacteria build up in the unit from the standing water in the venting system. I don't know if you have a "fan only" option on the unit like a car or not, but if that's the case, make sure to run the fan only after the air before you shut it off. By doing that, it will dry out the water vapor and prevent the water condensation issue.
