Royals had runners on 1st and 2nd 0 outs and DDJ got fucked by the Umpf or called strike 3 on a pitch well out of the zone.

Then Billay strikes out and Podz gets shot stealing 3rd for the DP.

Butler struck out swinging, but he got the chance to do that when the ump called the pitch before that a ball wehn it was obviously a strike.

This team needs some power, and a guy the size of Butler should be a big bopper.

9 HRs at this point of the season is pathetic.

I think he should be farther along... but he did just turn 24 a couple months ago. He's definitely not a finished product yet.

Billy was never a huge home run hitter. That year in High Desert doesn't count; biggest inflation park ever.

Have I mentioned how much I hate Hawk Harrelson? Because I do hate him.

He should be further along.

Yeah but it's not like Butler has bombed like Gordon or Teahen. Butler's shown he can hit. He just needs to develop power... which isn't absurd.

Baseball is best watched at the yard.

When watching on TV, the annoucers are an important part of enjoying the game.

When I was kid watching the Royals, Denny Matthews and Fred White made the game enjoyable.

When I moved to California, I watched the Dodgers, even though I hate the Dodgers, because Vin Scully is the very best at what he does.

The games on WGN, ESPN and TBS are harder than hell to watch because the announcers simply suck ass.

Seriously, our team record for home runs in a season is 36. How is that possible? And I know the K is not a home run park.

Matter of opinion.

A 240 lb first baseman needs to be a banger.

If he is just a 300 hitter with some doubles power, your team is never going to be a real contender.

I hated the way the game evolved into one in which teams went from station to station waitng for the big HR.

I enjoyed watching Frak White and Willie Wilson more that John Mayberry and Willie Aiken.

But the fact is, your lineup needs a bat that is feared in the middle to ever hope to be anything more than a wannabe.

So can Mike Moustakas, who is being promoted to AAA after the All-Star break.

Living outside of Kansas City for the first time in my life is tough enough. I have to cherish the times the Royals are actually on TV here. But if I have to hear "He gone" one more time, I am going to turn off the television. Do White Sox fans even like their announcers?

While true, I wouldn't bet on it.

Not enough natural loft on Butler's swing for him to be a major HR guy. Edgar Martinez is damn near a perfect ideal projection.

Consistently hit in the 20s (one 37 HR season in 2000--roids?).

Again, if he's not a 30+Hr hitter at 240 lbs, then he's not the guy I would want at first base.

How many World Series did Edgar Martinez help lead the Mariners to?

"perfect ideal" in my last post. LMAO.

Um...yeah, I understand the thinking, but I think it depends on the roster construction. If you have mashers at the outfield corners and power at 3B/C, Butler is a fantastic addition.

While the Mariners didn't win big with Edgar, he wasn't the problem. Far from it. Same thing with Gonzo for the Chiefs. Relative to the individual player, there isn't a team in the league that wouldn't love to have him.

Now, when dumb shit executives build around a DH without power (or a Gonzo), that's when big problems emerge.
