Chiefs Agree to Terms With 5th Round LB Cameron Sheffield (http://www.macsfootballblog.com/2010/07/chiefs-agree-to-terms-with-5th-round-lb.html)

According to a league source, the Kansas City Chiefs have reached agreement on a four-year deal with fifth-round linebacker Cameron Sheffield.

Sheffield's contract has a base value of $1.984 million dollars, and includes a fully guaranteed $194,450 roster bonus in lieu of a signing bonus. The maximum value of Sheffield's contract is $2.75 million dollars.

Sheffield was a three-year starter at defensive end at Troy, totaling 163 tackles, including 28.5 for a loss and 15 quarterback sacks. Sheffield twice earned first-team All-Sun Belt Conference honors.

Asked to play outside linebacker at the Senior Bowl, Sheffield impressed scouts with his athleticism, making the 6-2, 257-pounder a legitimate rush-linebacker for teams running a 3-4 system.

Sheffield is behind Mike Vrabel on the Chiefs’ depth chart, and his immediate contributions will most likely be on special teams.

Hmm... thats the second 4 year deal.... right?

Maybe we are trying to lock up our young talent for longer than the standard 3 year deal. The first rounder usually signs 4-5 years deals though.... I wonder what Berry will do? interesting.

I refuse to believe that the Chiefs participated in the 2009 NFL draft

Last years draft sucked. Pioli knows it..... and dare i say.... knew it?

Pretty sure the middle picks all got 3 year deals.

I think Berry will sign a 6 year deal at most, and 5 years at minimum. By the time that contract is up, he should be getting paid like the highest paid safety again.
