I gotta go vader in this one. as much as I loved ledger's joker, we all know he gets clowned by guys wearing all black suits with utility belts.

this matchup really excites me. honestly, I have no freaking idea who will win. ledger's joker has been a juggernaut (he was the number one seed in the elite eight before lecter beat him percentage wise for number one seed in the final four), but vader is just pure fucking badass (not to mention, there are a shit-ton of star wars fans on this site)

I think this is CLEARLY Joker's fight. All the way. And let me spell out why:

1. Vader's image has been severely tarnished by the atrocities that were the prequels. Anakin Skywalker sucks. The image of Vader walking onto Leah's ship in the opening sequence of "new hope" and then later swinging freely to kill Kenobi, has been permanently replaced by a the Frankenstein like birth and a couple of whiny kids making me hate George Lucas. And even if we just keep our sights on "Empire" as the poll asks us to, then Vader is hamstringed because we take out the most bad ass Vader-Villain moment (killing Obi Wan).

2. On the other hand what Ledger did with The Joker in Dark Knight is pure movie magic. Not only does it work for the film, but the performance is a G/D masterpiece. He's legitimately scary throughout the film without being just a "black hat." How many people can one up Jack Nicholson? Seriously?...

This is an easy one.

Ledger's Joker was incredibly well done but he only did it once.

Darth Vader on the other hand spanned multiple films as well as decades. He is as well known - perhaps more well nown - now as he was in the 80's. He's a bad guy's bad guy.
