Oh no! Not another "which BBQ is KC's best?" thread!

No, seriously, it's not. I just wanted to share this awesome photo of the line at Oklahoma Joe's today.

The nice thing about OK Joe's is that the line moves fast. They have their shit together when it comes to feeding lots of customers.

I have been in that line before. Although the last few times it wasn't that bad. I wonder if it had anything to do with the MVF episode last night?

I still have family there, but honestly, I've not seen much in the way of police taking radar. As a kid back in the early 80's I got busted by a Westwood cop (mind you, I was 17 at the time) with open containers in my car. The punishment: The cop took all the beers in the cooler and poured them out on the side of the road (can by can), then sent us our way..................back to 7-11 to buy more beer:D

I grew right down the street from that location. Used to get our beer and gas there. Too bad OK Joes wasn't there back then.

I was in KC in July and went to the other OK Joes and had the best Burnt Ends that I have had in some time. I have to say OK Joes Rocks!

Not to hijack, but not worthy of another thread...

Tiny, Pest, Flopnuts and myself are planning on hitting up a BBQ joint on Monday afternoon for lunch before the MNF game.

We'll be staying at Ameristar, but really, a bit of a drive won't kill us.

Where should I take these guys?

EDIT: I know there's an Arthur Bryant's in the casino, but it sucked last time I was there.

Arthur Bryants on Brooklyn Avenue - my fave

Edit: AB's has a place right at the AmeriStar - you won't have to drive much.

There's an Arthur Bryant's at Ameristar. Oklahoma Joe's is probably 25-30 minutes away and in out of the way with respect to Arrowhead, but it's well worth it. And there's always Gates close to the stadium.

My vote would be Oklahoma Joe's.... inconvenient, out of the way, with long lines.... and totally worth it.

What? Really? I always go to that one though it has been awhile. The closet OK Joes to the casino is the gas station one which is close to the Westport/Ku Med area. What time are you thinking about goin? If you don't mind I'd like to meet you.

Also if you guys are eating in at the gas station location I would recommend getting there as it opens otherwise getting a spot will be impossible.

Stop calling the original location "the gas station location." No one gives a shit about the Olathe outpost.

As far as food quality though no they are the same ran by the same owner. I worked there for a bit when I was younger.

Food is a little better at the original location. Yes, I can tell. Subtle differences in moisture/dryness and texture, mostly. Timing-based things.

So, if OKJ is the consensus here, which location, or does it matter?

I'm not worried about the drive if one's better/easier to get a table than the other.

Hope you're enjoying Alabama, by the way. Grad school = good times. Seriously.

If that picture was taken at noon then the Man vs Food episode only added about 15 people to the usual length of the line.

Th one in Olathe MIGHT be easier to get a table because it seats more however either one you'll have to get there as it opens because it fills up fast. I worked the lunch rush there trust me I know.

I thought Oklahoma Joe's burnt ends stole the show last night. I didn't know burnt ends could look so tasty.

I've never been to the outpost, but I don't think it really matters.... I think it would come down to the drive, and there's no point in driving to Olathe, except that it might be easier to find a parking spot.
