One thing that Cassel does need to improve on is his pocket awareness. In a play last night instead of buying time he kind of melted down, Huard style, and dived toward the line of scrimmage. He didn't even have that much pressure on that play, he saw ghosts or something.

The problem is that pocket awareness is about 99% instinctive.

It's not something that you can coach, so if you don't have, you aren't likely ever going to have it.

I am just not sure what the hell is missing with Cassel??

I mean the positives:

He can be elusive and pick up first downs with his feet.

Great guy-good for the community.

Good leader-the guys seem to really like and respect him.

Some passes he seem to put just the right amount of velocity and touch on the ball.

Negatives:
Cant seem to pick up blitzes.

Holds the ball too long and takes far too many sacks.

Get jittery back there even when there is no pressure.

Puts way to much arm into swing passes when a nice rainbow will do.

Seems confused on playcalling sometimes?

Doesnt manage a game very well on 2 minute drills.

So I dont know what to make of him??? :hmmm::hmmm::hmmm:

We'll know the answer after this year.

Cassel has a $7.5 million roster bonus that is awaiting him come March 2011. If he played up to the Chiefs standards, Pioli will renegotiate his contract and keep him (because either way, he's not seeing that 7.5 mil, unless he plays all-world this year). If not, he's gone. Everyone knows and Cassel himself knows.

According to Merrill Hoge, the Jets are in trouble. Sanchez looks more lost than ever in the preseason games he's played so far, is what he said. I haven't seen him play a lot yet this year so I'm kind of anxious to watch the Jets play before the Chiefs game September 13 to see how he does. Their season, like everyone elses, depends on if the QB plays well or not.

I play nice so I won't name names... but I got ridiculed pretty hard by some of the draftabulator's, or whatever they are called.. for saying he could be every bit as good as Stafford and Sanchez. He's got a ways to go yet... but he got knocked pretty hard for having a learning disability.

But that doesn't really affect his football game... he ran a pro style offense at Ball State. His OC coached for Gruden in Tampa. He handled it fine. His biggest knock was a couple of real costly fumbles he had. But he doesn't give anything away to anyone in terms of throwing the football and running an offense.
