Mods, I know this is a dupe, but I figured the Casino wasn't getting much action.
<HR style="COLOR: #cccccc" SIZE=1><!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->I'm in the 2nd round of a keeper league.

There are 4 receiver options on the board:

Wes Welker
Anquan Boldin
Steve Smith (both of them)

I'm leaning toward Welker here and then on the 3rd on the way back I can pick between Romo, Brady and Schaub.

I think I'm going to take Welker and Romo.

What would you do?

wazu

Boldin. Biggest upside. When he's healthy, he could be a monster.

wazu

Next would be Romo. Brady is great, but always gets the bad weather December games when you need him most.

The Bad Guy

See, I think the same thing about Welker. He's a PPR machine, and yes, he doesn't score much, but god damn 123 catches is insane.

If the PPR scoring is high enough I would agree, just for a keeper league. In standard format I would go Boldin. Welker will be slowed this year, don't be fooled by the glowing reports.

Point per reception for WRs.

I also think the Pats are going to spread it around more. Edelman looks good, as do a couple of other guys.

Yeah, that's pretty crazy. I'd probably go Welker or Steve Smith (NYG).

The Ravens also have weapons though. They will lean on the ground game far more and Mason is pretty good pass catcher.

Decisions, decisions.

I'm thinking Steve Smith, NYG. Stay away from the ACL. More reasonable to expect a repeat of last year.

I was thinking Smith too. I'm going to take Welker and then see what happens with the QBs. The guys behind me already have their QBs so I'll be getting Romo.

In terms of the QBs, I think Romo would be 3rd on the list for me. On the WRs, it's a coin flip really.

You'd take Brady and Schaub over Romo?

The QBs are more of a coin flip than the WRs. They are all elite. I would bet they all finish in the Top 7. The WRs will finish all over the place.

The Bad Guy

Here's my next scenario.

Do I bypass the 3 QBs and get a Cutler later and take another receiver here (we start 2 and have a flex) like Welker?

I could realistically take Romo, then take the best available receiver and then grab a JerMichael Finley in the 4th.

Or I could take Welker, get Finley and wait on the QB.

I just joined a 2 keeper league and was blessed with MJD. The only other options are Greg Jennings, and Steve Smith. It's kind of a toss up to me as it's pretty standard scoring with no bonuses for receptions. Who would you guys take at this point? I'm leaning toward Jennings, particularly with Carolina's shaky QB situation right now.

With Carolina's shaky QB situation, maybe I'm better off having my 2nd keeper be DeAngelo Williams. Hmm.

I would never keep someone in a time share situation.

I'd keep Jennings.

Who did you get in Rd 1?

wazu
08-24-2010, 11:20 PM
Nevermind, it doesn't matter. I'm heading to bed. I would stick with Romo. Cutler is going to be a bust, count on it. If you end up waiting until later go with Kolb, and grab Stafford late. Good luck.

The Bad Guy

Took Jones-Drew round 1 and had Stafford, Shonn Greene and Hightower as my inherited keepers. All of them had such a low value they were worth keeping.

The Bad Guy

Since I picked, it has gone:

Jamaal Charles
Jahvid Best
Wes Welker

There's a realistic chance that Anquan Boldin is there when I pick.

Do I roll the dice and take him and wait on the QB later (I have Stafford as a backup), or do I lock in Romo and get a guy like T.O.?

The Franchise

What's your scoring look like?

If you get 6 points for TDs with QBs.....then take Romo.

It's only 4, but even with 4 he was a top 10 scorer.

Schaub, Romo and Brady are all there right now.

I guess my plan right now is to take Romo. Grab someone like JerMichael Finley in the 4th and take Owens in the 5th.

That would give me a starting lineup right now of:

QB- Romo, Stafford
RB- MJD, Shonn Greene, Tim Hightower (flex)
WR- Steve Smith, T.O.
TE- Finley

The Bad Guy

I think I'm going Brady.

He's playing for a contract and he seems pissed off.

That's good enough for me. He threw for 28 TDs last year in his sleep basically.

The Franchise
08-25-2010, 10:05 AM
My personal preference is Schaub over Romo....but that's just me.

Also...I'd look for a better WR than T.O. in the 5th. Sims-Walker? Maclin?

I would contemplate taking another WR next, and seeing if Romo, Schaub or Brady fall. If they don't Flacco in a later round is a great choice, IMO.

I think it's more important to have a legit WR2 (Owens isn't, IMO) than the slight difference between Flacco and the others.

I worry about Sims-Walker health.

Palmer seems to force the issue to T.O. all the time. I think he's perfect for that offense because Palmer's deep accuracy has fizzled out big time and Owens is great at crossing routes.

See, I don't know about Boldin either. He has a wealth of question marks. Stud ground game, new offense, constant health issues each year.

Shit, if Boldin's still there, I absolutely take him and pair Flacco with him in a round or two - but that's just me.

His upside is miles ahead of Owens'.

I think Baltimore is going to air it out a lot more than people think this year.

Michael Crabtree?

The Bad Guy
08-25-2010, 10:14 AM
Steve Smith from Carolina is there, Crabtree was kept.

I took Brady. There's 7 guys in round 4 who have keepers, so that pushes a pretty good player to me.

I could realistically try to get Syndey Rice later in the draft and use him at the end of the year.

This. And maybe you'll get lucky and one of the 3 QBs will still be there.

Obviously, it's just a projection, but AccuScore has Flacco 15 points behind Brady for the year.

That's nothing, especially when you consider the value involved.

I've watched every preseason game so far. Palmer is targeting TO a lot. I look for him to have a very solid year.
