So Page shot his career in the head, stabbed it eight times with a screwdriver, fed it antifreeze in a pina colada, and then drove it off the Golden Gate Bridge inside a flaming AIDS van, and now he wants to revive it.

Nope.

And on a side note, Kyle (as much as I like him) deserves a fucking punch in the cock.

We have a week to go until the season starts, and this place is running like a 3-legged donkey.

Chiefs re-signed S Jarrad Page to a one-year, $1.759 million contract.

His relationship with the Chiefs having gone south, Page is still seeking a trade. Signing his tender will facilitate a deal, but he remains undecided about reporting for work with Kansas City. Multiple reports have suggested the Lions are keeping an eye on Page, waiting for the asking price to drop.

Hopefully a deal is already in the works and that is why this is happening all of a sudden. I would think though that Page wouldn't be as open to going to Detroit as he would more likely like to go to a more playoff ready team. Oh well hopefully this is for a decent lineman either D or O-line; or for a sixth round or earlier draft pick.

The timing is definitely strange ... but, overall, this is a good thing. I wonder what kind of shape he's in and if he can pass another team's physical.

It's really pretty genius on Page's part. Once he signed the Chiefs have to cut someone. He now forces them to trade him, cut him, or waste a roster spot on him out of spite.

I agree with you, it just seems like with the potential trade to a crappy team he'd just sit it out, but as BillLundberg pointed out he may be better signing now to force the FO into doing something.

The Kansas City Chiefs Options With Jarrad Page
by Joel Thorman on Sep 3, 2010 5:05 PM CDT in 2010 Kansas City Chiefs Preseason 0 comments

More photos Jeff Roberson - AP
Kansas City Chiefs safety Jarrad Page has reportedly signed his free agent tender. This now means, if the report is accurate, he is officially part of the Chiefs roster.

What Page has done by not signing his tender until now is save over $500,000 in fines he would have incurred by skipping training camp. Of course he wasn't under contract so he couldn't be fined.

His tender amount was $1.759 million but the Chiefs had the option of reducing it another $64,000 back in July. We're not sure if they ever did that.

All that said, here are the Chiefs options at this point.

They can place him on the roster exempt list. This is the option that I think has a good shot of happening because it can buy the Chiefs time.

Here's the relevant portion of the CBA that talks about it.

If the player has not reported at least the day before the Club’s fourth pre-season game, he may be placed on roster exempt until the day following the third regular season game scheduled after the date he actually reports.

Basically, he wouldn't count against the roster and, if I can read the CBA correctly, he wouldn't be paid. The big thing though is he wouldn't count against the roster. That's really the only way Page can force the Chiefs hand.

They can keep him. This option this highly unlikely considering everything that has transpired. Page's reps publicly called the Chiefs "vindictive" while asking for a trade. Plus, he clearly doesn't have a future with the Chiefs at safety.

They can release him. Again, this options doesn't seem that likely considering the Chiefs have dug their heels in to this point. If this were an option, you gotta think they wouldn't have tendered him in the first place.

They can trade him. Now that he has signed his tender, he can be traded. This would appear to be an option since keeping him and releasing him don't seem like options. He couldn't be traded until he signed the tender.

They can place him on PUP. I'm not sure how likely this is but I suppose he could "fail" a conditioning test -- or if he's not in shape -- and the Chiefs could put him on the physically unable to perform list to start the season. Remember, he's coming off of a season-ending injury.

Actually, I'm pretty sure that beings he didn't play at anytime in the preseason, they can just put him on the PUP list. Might want to check that though.

i imagine they did reduce his salary and they will put him on the exempt list

they will fine him ever day until he reports

don't know if they will trade him or just inactivate him every week

How do you figure that? He was given a second-round tender. Seems to me it got to this point because Page refused to sign his tender.

http://www.arrowheadpride.com/2010/9/3/1668573/chiefs-get-two-game-roster

The Kansas City Chiefs now have a few more weeks to figure out the Jarrad Page situation. Page signed his restricted free agent tender on Friday meaning he now counts against the roster.

I suggested on Friday that the Chiefs could place Page on the roster exempt list, which would keep him out for the first three games of the season and he would not be paid.

Instead, the Chiefs have requested and received from the league a roster exemption, which is different from placement on the roster exempt list, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.

The two big points in all of this: Page will not be counted against the 53-man roster for the first two regular season games and he will be paid for those two weeks.

So Page won't count for the first two games while the Chiefs determine what they'll do with him.

The next key date: Sept. 19, the Chiefs second regular season game.
