Chase Coffman cut before ever playing a snap for Bengals

Taken in the third round of the 2009 draft as the most productive pass-catching tight end in NCAA history, Chase Coffman won't ever play a regular season snap for the Bengals.

The team cut him on Saturday after he struggled with a foot injury, and then blocking as a pro. It's sad to see him dumped, but this can't be a surprise for anyone that watched Hard Knocks last year. Coffman was lucky not to get cut then.

REPOST. Ok not really, but this was posted in the Mizzou gamethread.

Sucks for Coffman. Hell of a pass catcher, phenomenal hands. But like T-Ruck, can't block it seems.

I'd rather have Chase Coffman than Pope.

I'd rather have Chase Coffman than Pope.

Why? At least pope won't spend all year on the IR and can fill in when Tony M breaks his femur.

I'd rather have Chase Coffman than Jake O'Connell.
