Steelers cut Justin Hartwig, as expected.

Chiefs need to sign him.

Rams already waived Danario Alexander. Has to suck for him to know he has the talent, but just isn't healthy enough to make a team.

Some names of interest:
Howard Green - 320 lb. NT -- cut by too many teams, but he's played NT in New York. Would be good to add some depth. (listed on ESPN at 365 lb. -- is that possible?)

Bobby Carpenter -- wouldn't want the guy, but he was brought in by Parcells.

Rob Callaway - 315 lb. DT --
I'm intrigued by DTs who couldn't make it in a 4-3

Deljuan Robinson - 307 lb. DT --
NT that was possibly pushed out of Houston when they converted to a 4-3

Al Woods
Possible depth at 5-technique?

Jay Alford
NT -- maybe give him a shot in a 3-4

William Joseph
DT -- again, another career-long 4-3 guy. Maybe give him a whirl in a 3-4?

Apparently, no one was interested in trading for him ... something must be up*.

Still, I don't see why they wouldn't want to work him out*.

* The use of this adverb is not intended to refer, in any way, to Mr. 'Hamas' Jenkin's member as he reads the latest issue of LIVESTOCK magazine.

I must have been unconscious for a couple of days... when did we trade Page to NE? What did we get in return?

Op, never mind. Found the thread about it!

I'd rather have Chase Coffman other than any of our TE's short of Moeaki

Chiefs need to sign him.

He's pretty terrible anymore.

Alford is strictly a pass rushing 4-3 DT. He's not a space eating run stopper.

Tank Tyler axed in Carolina. I always liked Tank, wish he fit in the 3 4 D

There are a number of players I'd be interested in.

Most notably, though, are Jeff Byers and Selvish Capers.

Oh, and Josh Mauga.

Oh, and Roger Allen.

Oh, and Sean Allen.

You get the idea.

Not as terrible as Rudy Niswanger.

I hope that now that Pioli has his scouts in place that his vision is no longer limited to the tree.

It's time he branched out.

I agree, though I'm not expecting it.

As someone else pointed out after the Page trade, it appears Pioli only has two numbers in his Rolodex.

I get that, but there is a difference between getting a deal done with another team and scouting and signing free agents.

Baby steps.

I think it's overstated because they conveniently traded w/New England. Getting anything for Page was a good thing. But when you look at this offseason, they brought in Wiegmann, Thomas Jones, Ryan Lilja, Jerheme Urban, Shaun Smith. The last two guys were only brought in because of direct connections to the coaching staff. In the meantime, they passed up on Benjamin Watson, Jarvis Green, Adalius Thomas, Leigh Bodden. They passed up on Akin Ayodele, Ted Ginn, etc.... And everybody was convinced that he would play up his connection to Saban to draft Rolando McClain over Eric Berry.

I'm hoping this is a sign that they're looking beyond the rolodex.

Why would anyone think teams were lining up for Page? Not that he is that bad but he hasn't played football in a long time, hasn't been to TC or anything.

I doubt he is in football shape. Being a safety I am sure he can get by easier than some other positions but he was a poor tackler with TC etc... I imagine he couldn't tackle my grandma right now if she took a lateral step.

If you consider that I break your back and give you a concussion, and you give me a paper cut as payback, then yeah, we got payback.

What are people's thoughts on Jonathan Crompton? Great arm strength, great athleticism, played in a pro style offense. Seems like he's extremely raw, but I feel like this could be a guy you could maybe coach up.
