No one in football loses the division on Week 1.

The likelyhood of winning it are slim, but this outcome really changes nothing.

Any time you lose to a division rival at home, not to mention their million AFC West titles in a row, I'd say that's a huge detriment to your playoff chances. And considering our slim chances anyway, yes they can be won in week 1. Winning your home games, especially division foes, at home is step one to getting to the playoffs. Some day we will again lol.

Ok, I'm confused now.
The Chiefs received a late week surprise that wasn’t welcoming on Friday when WR Dexter McCluster missed practice due to illness. Apparently the illness is serious enough to possibly hold McCluster out of action for the season opener. On Saturday, the Chiefs officially listed McCluster as “doubtful.”

No.

They could get into serious trouble with the league by manipulating that list.

So "doubtful" means he "can't play" at all if listed today? What if he goes to "questionable" tomorrow? Or you can't change the injury list from today because of deadline and if he does play then what you are saying is how does a player go from "D" on Sat to playing on Mon which is frowned upon and might lead to trouble with the NFL?

The NFL mandates that injury reports be filed 48 hours in advance.

If they thought that McCluster would be questionable at game time, they'd list him as questionable.

If they thought he would be "doubtful" at game time, he'd be doubtful.

It's against the rules to intentionally manipulate the team injury list. The Chiefs don't want to get fined for "playing games".

I thought that is was more about percentages ... like, for example, "doubtful" means there's an 80% chance that the player will not take the field ... 50% if the player is listed as "questionable" ... or something like that. No?

Besides, I imagine that the league would get more pissed when teams don't list a player as "out" when they know full well that the player cannot perform. It messes up the opposing team because they waste time watching film and preparing for players that don't even suit up.

I hope you're mcright. I honestly think he's gonna be good for 100 yards of offense at least in every game and this game needs to hit on all cylinders. Injury report lists him as a did not participate. That doesn't make him doubtful. As any player that has been sick, he will play. He is on fluids and has the best athletic trainers working on him so he can play.

Since Adam is upset about the limited coverage he gets in reporting the Chiefs, he would rather list a inaccurate report instead of reporting the truth.

I think this is what happened and Adam Teicher which i fucking despise should get the hell out of KC for posting something so stupid. And Looney is a tard for believing the trash he wrote to cover his own ass. Honestly can we get a better reporter than Adam Teicher hoenstly!

In preparations for Monday Night Football (and a 9:15 p.m. start) against the San Diego Chargers (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/teams/san-diego-chargers), the Chiefs are holding a night practice at Arrowhead Stadium this evening.

Hours ago McCluster was ruled as doubtful for the game against the Chargers. Doubtful, in the NFL's language, means that a player almost certainly won't play.

Bob Gretz reports on CBSSports.com (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/rapid-reports/post/13925775) that McCluster practiced on Saturday evening. That has to be considered a good sign even if it were just individual stuff he was doing. He missed practice on Friday, was listed as doubtful on Saturday and then practices on Saturday evening.

What kind of illness could Dexter McCluster (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/109122/Dexter_McCluster) have that would prompt the Kansas City Chiefs (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/teams/kansas-city-chiefs) coaches to list him on Saturday afternoon as doubtful but then to see him practice that evening?

That's an interesting time line there but everything at this point is speculation.

Also practicing was LB Tamba Hali (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/2371/Tamba_Hali) who is questionable for the Chiefs. It's seemed likely this week that Hali would play despite missing a little time earlier in the week with some sort of ankle injury.

Stay tuned on McCluster. It's possible we haven't heard the end of him in week one. The Chiefs are conducting a walk-through on Sunday (no media) so we won't know McCluster's status until game time.

DUDE!!!!

He practiced today i'm sure this is just smokescreen he will be good to go!

Doesn't matter. He's still on the injury report as doubtful. So you're little rant on Teicher means nothing.

McScorer must play ...

But in the media window for practice, McCluster was working with the receivers and the offense, doing all the things he did before he missed Friday night’s workout. He did not look like somebody that has a 75 percent chance of not playing, which is what doubtful means.

There was a Tebow sighting in Kansas City today. He must of healed McCluster for us to beat the Chargers! Fool must think the Chargers will be competition in the West and not us.

If he really is sick, he needs to stay the fuck away from the stadium. There might be a nine month old there.

If he practiced today, I'd say he is going to play. It would look pretty foolish of the team to practice him today, then keep him out for the game.

Doubtful doesn't mean he is out obviously. It just means there's a 75 percent chance that he won't play. Still leaving 25 percent.

If it were gamesmanship, he'd be listed as questionable.

Then I guess Clark gave Pioli the persmission to get hit with a fine.

Hell yes, Fellas!! We are playin to WIN, FINALLY!!! Clark is showing his BRASS BALLS!!!! I mean what's a fine in the NFL to a BILLIONAIRE if it means a must win at home against a divisional rival:shrug::thumb:

No way in hell you practice Sat Nite when you were just listed as D earlier that day. If you truly have the Flu your in bed and if you have a physical injury you are letting it rest not aggravating it so you can be ready for the next week.

Chargers will get McClusterF'd Mon Nite, Count on it!!:thumb:

It sounds like he's got some sort of serious infection if they're saying he's doubtful.

Maybe a staph infection?

You think Dex was secretly visiting the Browns locker room and now he suffers with "Kellen WinSWOLLEN Balls Syndrome"???

smokescreen!

What is the advantage of updating him from doubtful to questionable if it is a smokescreen? Wouldn't they just leave him doubtful until the day of? Just wondering.
