You could see it coming at the end of the DV regime. The defense was a mess and most of the best players on the offense were old. Too many years of drafting where we got zero. If the we'd started the rebuild in Herm's first year and drafted well since then, we'd just now be a contender under best case scenario. The thing that really pisses me off is the QB situation, because we aren't even at ground zero there. We still have to go through this year of fail to "decide" we need to look for another QB. We are still 3 years away under any realistic evaluation.

Namath, Dawson and Green had good seasons post knee surgery, off the top of my head. The injuries were different, but so was the technical ability of the surgery for Namath and Dawson. I don't know how many other QBs have had that kind of inury where they were fully planted on it and taken a direct hit. Like Milkman said, it's more in his head that physical.

Two things I said earlier in the year. The Bengals are NOT a pass offense and when their run offense stalls, they can't do shit because Carson Palmer can't deal with any hint of a pass rush. Secondly, that their defense is grossly overrated and got their reputation largely from beating up shitty teams last season. They just don't have any consistent pass rushers.
