I'll have to say Charles should be the backup. Cassel had almost 3000 yards last year and Charles only had 1100.

Charles getting less carries behind Jones is just a bigger, consistently productive player who's less injury-prone taking a bigger percent of the beating. Which is virtually the same thing as Cassel taking the beating instead of Croyle. Except that Cassel isn't productive and Croyle's never done anything.
