Streaming Test - Please Try to Break

I promised some guys last weekend that I would try to do some streaming over the weekend since I have access to a streaming server.

So, now that I've got an encoder box working again, its time to try to break it.

The page runs in a flash video player (ala youtube, justin.tv, etc) so you will need flash to test, but other than that it should be fine.

You have two wonderful flavors of streaming - low bandwidth and high bandwidth. Pick your favorite poison and see what you think. Please post your thoughts in this thread and remember that the streams will be password protected on Sunday.

(BTW, since the audio tends to lag on the high bandwidth version, I was thinking about streaming the radio broadcast along with the tv picture on Sunday... the lags should cancel out)

Everything worked for me. I had all of buffering on the low rez side but I have a shitty ISP so I blame it.

Well, running 2 streams here in the ciber cafe, 2 different computers, both attempting to access high bandwidth, one of them buffering badly (that will never happen, the cafe is closed on game day, and mexicans don't watch, but you said to try). On a side note, I don't know if there is any way to post the password only somewhere members can find it, otherwise, like others have mentioned, could face huge traffic on game day.

And me too...I've been a CP member for several years now, and I must say it sucks from week to week during football season, not having a consistent sight to watch the games on. Direct TV is way too expensive and hardly seems worth it. I don't mind going to bars to watch the games on occasion here or there, but it'd be nice to be able to watch the games on a regular basis at home again.

Oh god winter sucks there....at times or I should say most of the winter it's damn near borderline unbearable. I mean don't get me wrong it was fun riding them snowmobiles all the time during winter and such, but I just hated how damn cold it got. I don't even mind the snow...but the cold blows. Ok - FINAL TEST!

I've done quite a bit of tweaking and design work...

You can watch streams on your IPhone / Android / Blackberry / Assorted Mobiles (it will automatically sniff you out)

All users have three stream speeds (IPhone / IPad have three speeds in two different flavors). This is what I'm wanting to test.

I don't know how well my encoder box is keeping up. Test the streams. See if they are acceptable. Let me know.

Your feedback this evening will determine what gets set tomorrow morning.

100 posts is way too low, if you are going to do this because then people could easily spam for less than 15 minutes and get to 100 posts

The single point of weakness in this chain is the comcast router, even though I pay to have business class internet. Everything will be rebooted in the morning... but we are at comcast's mercy on that...

I am not even really aware of any other Chiefs forums. I don't think there is anything that slips past this board. Usually items of interest have at least one thread dedicated to them and many times multiple threads.

Okay, I am really posting this in part to check my post count, and increase if needed, but IF myp2pforum were really trying to link the stream there, I as a regular user of that site, knows that this stream would not meet their minimum requirements for an NFL stream (Link banner at top of stream, and no other ads on page).

P.S. If I don't get this stream I have experience of finding it elsewhere, but would love to not worry about it.

I will make a thread in the subforum in the morning for sponsorships. Someone that I know / trust / has good rep (ie the sponsor) will make a request for access in that thread for the sponsored member.

I will then review the request and more than likely approve it. I will PM the login to the sponsored member.

I think this is fair. If you don't meet the requirements but have networked yourself on the board enough for other members to know you and respect you, you deserve the password.

This I can agree with. If you've been a member here for at least a year or have posted 500 times then chances are you've paid your dues and taken some crap from others here on CP.

I'll go on record and say it should be at least 500 posts. It keeps it limited to a number of people so there's at least a chance that the link won't be posted everywhere. These guys with no posts are probably guys that post elsewhere and will post the link there.

In all honesty, this is perfectly acceptable, he is putting himself on the line. If I were posting this up I would go through the same ramifications to do it. I, as you can see, have a whole 12 or 13 posts but wouldn't risk it for the majority of the fan base. I will just earn it the hard way and keep going to bars to watch the games so I have something to post until I get there. If you have found a way, more props to you and you should protect it.
