They do. Living in a college town, it's pretty obvious that student athletes have some source of income beyond the means of their families.

Thought it was some interesting reading. And it mentioned a couple local players (Sean LaChappelle - Chiefs and Dana Stubblefield, Kansas).

Nothing sad about it.

Nope not at all.

If I was an athlete in college and someone offered to give me some money and give some to my family, why the hell wouldn't I take it?

Which honestly wouldn't surprise me. Sadly.

Considering how much money athletes bring the universities and NCAA the way things currently stand is the real sad part.

Mel Kiper made pre-arranged calls to a top agent, Gary Wichard, during meetings with college players. He says Kiper is thought to have ranked players who were represented by the agent more highly than others.

If this is true...Mil fans will eat giraffe junk.

People have thought that about Kiper forever, it's nothing new.

If Ncaa teams could sue the agents then that would stop some of this.

Not all athletes do especially the guys at lower tiered universities w/out a large alumni base, but I'd say 75% of the high profile recruits do. People close to the situation will tell you about times they will be at luncheons, school sponsored events, or even just around town and approached by high profile alumns/boosters. They shake their hand and then boom. They have $500 of bills in their hand.

Why would you want to stop it? If agents want to give players money, let them. The NCAA makes millions off of these guys, so what's $500.00 a month from an agent?

They should NCAA makes a ridiculous amount of money off these kids and their jerseys why shouldn't they get something? The coaches make millions, the school makes billions and the kids if they don't turn pro get what? A free education that's not worth it if they don't turn pro, and a lot of these kids come from a poor background and can't work a job, don't have money to fly their parents in for games, etc. They need to be given something, maybe revenue off jerseys sales something.

some college professor of mine in some sports class I took for an easy A slapped his personal guarantee that all major college athletes would be getting paid by the year 2050, lol.

Not only do they get paid they usually have "tutors" do all of their homework for them. And they don't do that shit for free
