Pure speculation but thats what was said on NFL Network. I think Carl wants Tyler Thigpen to start his 5 year plan. ROFL Poor Miami!

I think it was Jason Laconfora or whatever the hell his name is reporting.

If Carl is presdient and has nothing to do with the football side, the Dolphins will be fine.

I really doubt they fire their GM.. Carl is probably one of the best businessmen in the NFL and thats all he would handle with the Dolphins.. not the football side.

Jeff Ireland, their current GM, got his start in Kansas City under Carl Peterson.

Ross and Carl Peterson go back to the USFL days.

Seems like a natural fit to me.

Haha yeah, they'll only need two years to win the Super Bowl with Thigpen at QB!

You guys just wait. Thiggy will eventually become one of the greatest quarterbacks of all times. All he needs is a chance, a can of Red Bull, and a couple of skeletons to keep him company on the road.

Why?

Carl has never adapted to the new NFL. The game passed him by after the 98 season.

Peterson overstayed his stay here and he made some bad moves, but he is better than a lot of guys that have a job.

If he can learn from his mistakes, he can be a good hire for Miami.

Peterson sucked his last 10 years here, but he did one great thing when he got here: he hired Marty Schottenheimer. Schottenheimer had his flaws and his teams underachieved in the post-season, but that was a damn good time to be a Chiefs fan.

If Peterson had left after 10 years instead of staying for 20, everyone would love him.

What did he learn in 20 years in KC? He never changed.

Very true. People forget virtually all our good players are Carls players: Hali, DJ, Dorsey, Flowers, Carr, Bowe, Charles. All drafted by Carl. Having final say is a new gig for Pioli and he needs to prove over a period of time he can get it done, something ex New englanders have struggled with and something that was blatantly obvious in that '09 draft.

Are you joking? You need to go back and look at the drafts, especially from 2000 on. He was awful until Herm/Kuharich came in and started picking players.

B_Ambuehl
01-08-2011, 11:35 AM
That doesn't change the fact that he was responsible for drafting virtually all of the good players on this roster and also doesnt change the fact that he never had anything approaching the abortion that was Pioli's '09 draft. Pioli needs to show over a period of time that he's an upgrade. Just because the media says he is doesn't make it true, as he was a GM in title only in New England and didn't make decisions on personnel.

Ah how absence makes the heart grow fonder! I argue that those are more Herm's picks than Carl's. Carl just approved them. Before Herm, Carl's drafting was very dubious.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind Herm in our current drafting system.

dont forget how he paid mega-millions of dollars to a malcontent, juvenile, d-bag running back (who, by the way, was coming off a record amount of carries...and that history showed running backs never are the same after....not to mention the average length of service in NFL by RB's).....and at the same time, ship an elite pass-rusher out of town (which history shows are much harder to come by).

Yep...Carl made all kinds of great personnel decisions.

Pioli paid even more mega-millions of dollars to a juvenile 5 technique at #3 overall.

LOL

And he paid about twice as many millions of dollars to a QB whose starting to look a lot like Rex Grossman.

The jury is still out on cassel.....but given a better o-line this year...we've seen a good deal of progress.

But the Berry comment doesnt make sense.

I just read an article the other day how teams are starting to build defenses from the back first (indicating the importance of a stud safety....such as polamalu or Reed)....so I dont think the pioli draft of berry is a stretch by any means.

And from the games I've watched this year (which is all of them) - he's had a great impact on the defense (especially against the run...which we were horrible at last year).
