we went to the home opener MNF and as we were walking to the stadium, there were a line of guys at a port-o-potty and a charger fan walked by and got beer dumped on him before the game even started. Made me really embarrassed.

I apologized and said that most Chiefs fans didn't act like Raider heads.

He said he knew he would be in hostile territory, but didn't think that would happen at Arrowhead.

I admire her moxy for going to a hostile stadium and cheering on her man. She was surrounded by the enemy but she stood her ground the whole time. She is a good woman. No not that. But bringing your little kids to a football game wearing the visitor's gear is not a good choice. She should have got seats in a suite or left the visitor's gear at home.

In that case, there would be something really wrong with the fans around her... I see visiting team fans at Arrowhead during every game and haven't ever seen a problem that wasn't started by those fans, and that includes Broncos games, Raiders games, playoff games..... and I really don't think anyone would mess with a woman and her kids, and I don't think it's a risk at Arrowhead.

Taunting the home teams fans is poor judgement.

Maybe GoChiefs can provide a gif, but I didn't see her taunting... she was celebrating and I saw her look around a few times. If she was taunting and got a beer thrown on her, the person who threw it would get booed and would be escorted out, and I don't think it would be the end of the world for her or her kids.

Who's being sentimental? [ "Too bad they weren't playing some other team and the kids got to see their dad bring home a victory."]

I don't have a problem with her going to the stadium. Under the circumstances, I don't admire her choice of bringing her young children into that environment (especially while wearing the Jag's gear). I've been to a lot of football games and I know those kids heard things they shouldn't have. That's just my opinion, but I suspect most parents of children that age would agree.

It's not that hostile in Arrowhead. It's a little rowdy, but it's not like Oakland or Cleveland. For the most part, the fans are respectful. They are prone to protect women and kids. Exactly. i've been to more than enough football games to know that you don't get away with doing that shit unless it's good-natured. I've seen kids who did nothing wrong get called sluts.

I can almost guarantee that the fans knew from her jacket exactly who she was, they had some friendly back-and-forths, and there was plenty of good-natured taunting.

I don't know the situation and find it ridiculous that we would get all up in arms without knowing the context behind it.

Yup. She probably didn't even have to do that. She's wearing a jacket with several different logos. I can guarantee that she was asked who she was.

I've seen this 100 times when opposing teams' families are at a game. And I've been to games several times with friends who were related to a player and were open about it. They're always cheering for the guy they know. And they should. And fuck you to any person that's going to ruin their experience. Good on the fans behind them who had enough respect to let them enjoy the game.

This is ridiculous. Is it HER fault that CBS decided to show her and her family on national tv? They would seemingly otherwise be enjoying a special event as a family had CBS decided not to focus on them and make them part of the story being told yesterday.

CBS is the one against whom you should be venting any petty immature rancor, not his wife. What gets me about the whole thing is that once Bouman's luck turned they did not show her at all. It just goes to show how much they were enjoying using her family as a prop during their broadcast as long as it was a good story.

This thread shows KC's fans in a bad light for no good reason. It was a great game and hopefully the folks at Arrowhead treated her and her kids with the utmost respect and made them feel welcome in our home.

I couldn't agree more, Mr. crossbow. Anytime a farmer person receives a call to start in the NFL, it behooves us Midwesterners to empathize with that person and support our fellow steward of the lands. This holds true even when or if that farmer person is the starting quarterback for the opposition. Then, of course, it behooves us to beat the living crap out of that farmer's entire family with a tire iron.

I've sat with player's family's quite a bit. Very few of them are "classless" (and that includes Larry Johnson's daddy). Most of them are long time football viewers and are somewhat stoic about their relative's performance. Also, very few of them are heavily invested in the team to the same level as the fans. They're invested in their relative, not the team and the team's rivalries. As such, they're unlikely to really engage in a bunch of team bashing and harassing the opposition.

I seriously doubt that his wife was yelling, "How you like that Chief fans. My man is lighting your asses up here in CamaroHead Stadium."

We see the people smiling. We see, in other clips, the people around her giving high-fives to her kids. I think that is evidence that things were cool and it was all in good fun.

There have been players family here before, and I recall people taking more shit from Ethlyn Ricks than they typically would have here.

I'm still waiting for Kirstitynes' daddy to create an account here.

I think it's human nature to be somewhat star-struck by encounters with celebrities (and people somehow connected to them). I also think it's human nature to treat pretty women better than ugly ones (at least when you're dealing with them in person) so she had a couple of things working in her favor. None of that means that player families (or pretty women) actually deserve the special treatment they might get.

...whatever was going on, it just doesn't seem like she's being some obnoxious bitch to me, the fans around her are smiling and high-fiving...I think it's possible that the fans were being nice because her hayseek redneck husband won the NFL lottery after sitting down for 1757 days...

I've seen Demorrio Williams' family entourage at Arrowhead several times. They all wear wild rhinestone studded gaudy jerseys and other clothing with his 53 and his name all over the clothing. There's usually three or four of them in the entourage. Kinda cheezy, but they are proud of their family member, and that's cool. So I give them a pass.

I have no doubt that that's true. I didn't say that family members were typically (or even commonly) classless, I just said that classless family members deserve the same treatment that any classless fan deserves.

Maybe not, but she wasn't just cheering for her man/team in a straightforward, minding-her-own-business manner either. She turned and faced the fans behind her. Maybe that was in response to ribbing she'd been taking. Maybe it was because she knew or had gotten to know the people back there and they were all having fun together. But maybe it was because she was taunting them. We just don't know.

That's the problem. "We just don't know." What we do know is that the fans behind them are smilling. And high-fiving the kid. The idea that it was good natured fun between both parties has that backing. the idea that she was taunting to be a bitch has almost no backing. So we don't know for sure, but one theory is a lot stronger t han the other.

JFC. Anyone who's ever been to a game before knows that a fan who is taunting may not get beer thrown on her, but you'd see people behind her booing or giving her the finger or something.

C.E. hates women due to an obvious Oedipus/inferiority complex. Like this wasn't expected?

The guy just hit one for a touchdown after not throwing one for five years. She's probably getting a bit of shit from the Chiefs fans and gives a little back. If you were one of three people in the world out of roughly seven billion who was wearing a Bouman jersey on Sunday, you'd probably be a little jacked when he pops one in for six.

I thought it was cool. The guy was out of the NFL and a week later was starting a game. His wife and kids got to see that moment and I'm sure will remember it forever. I was proud of the way the Chiefs fans around them reacted in allowing them to cheer on Todd's good moments and most likely rib them when the Chiefs scored, etc. As usual this board is full of internet tough guys who would have done this or done that. Congrats to Bouman, I'm sure he and his family enjoyed his time in the spotlight after all those years of football and props to the Chiefs fans in the section for treating them with class.

Maybe, but I think you're missing the plausible alternative. She turned around and cheered in the faces of all those behind her. She wasn't cheering for her husband so much as rubbing Chiefs fans' faces in his accomplishments. It's to those Chiefs fans credit that they only smiled in response. The fact that she's attractive probably helped her avoid a backlash in the same way it seems to be preventing you from keeping an open mind.

There weren't many people high fiving anyone. The vast majority of people behind her didn't have anything to do with high fiving her or her kids. The one or two who did may have done so simply because a couple of cute kids (or a cute young woman) were involved. As I said before, the Chiefs fans in that section deserve a lot of credit for the class they showed. It's not so clear that Mrs. Bouman deserves the same credit.

Yeah, discrimation by the CBS stooges.
