</td> </tr> </tbody></table> Defensive Coordinator
I could never stand the guy as a head coach, but the man knows DEFENSE! He's proven, he has a proven track record of solid defenses when he was a D-Coord, his philosophy is very good, brings exotic blitzes, disguises his coverages quite well, and is good at getting his guys to play at another level.

so why haven't we or why don't we go sign Herman Edwards as our Defensive Coordinator?

The man is a defensive genius, I haven't heard his name floated around for the D-Coord job much.

(only thing is can we trust McDaniels to leave him alone and let him build a defense and let him call the defense? Or will we have to worry about McDaniels running him off after we have a good season?)

Assumptions are the mother of all screwups, but I thought this man had been a defensive coordinator...and I was wrong. He was just a defensive backs coach. But I will give him credit, he does seem to know defenses quite well.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herman_Edwards

I think I had him confused with Tony Dungy...so i give my apologies for my inaccuracy.

Herm could be a good DC. If he gets to draft his own guys, he can have a good D.

I fully support this.

Kid McDaniels
Herm Edwards
Norv Turner...just for good measure.

That's the kind of coaching staff I want the Broncos to have.

To be fair, the Colts wanted him as their DC. He was interested in a Dbacks coaching position but they had that filled so he didn't join their staff. Still, his buddy Tony wanted him.

What in the world would lead you to believe that Herman fucking Edwards would make a good DC?

Is it his intelligence, his awareness of everything that's going on around him, his ability to adjust on the fly?

I wouldn't let that dumbass coordinate my jammies (if I actually wore jammies).

I have no doubt it would confuse the hell out of him.

Norv Turner has been a consistently good OC throughout his career.

He's just in over his head as the man in charge.

I could see Herm being a good DC like Norv is a good OC but terrible HC. I mean theres no way I would chance it here.. but in all fairness having Gun try to run Herms defense just was asking for failure.. neither had a fair chance clashing their schemes.

But I would love to see him get a chance somewhere else.. just as long as he has nothing to do with the Chiefs.

i think Herm has way more knowledge to be a Dc in Denver . He should be the Head Coach.

The bucket you jack your hogs off into would be a better HC than McDraftBust,so yeah Herm would be EPIC in Dungver.

No. He couldn't. He can teach technique to D-backs, a position he played himself. He's also a decent evaluator of talent. But the man has no chance. Absolutely no chance whatsoever, of outsmarting an NFL offensive coordinator. Even a mediocre one.

Someone on that thread said he disguised blitzes well. Wasn't Herm's idea of a blitz rushing 3 guys? I seem to remember his defenses being the most conservative POSs ever (I know Gunther blitzed all 11 guys all the time, but seem to remember Herm wanting to run nothing but Cover 2).
