And the Chiefs seem to only show up in the first two of them. Look at the second half scoring in each game:
vs. San Diego
3rd: KC 0 - SD 7
4th: KC 0 - SD 0
at Cleveland
3rd: KC 3 - CLE 0
4th: KC 3 - CLE 0
vs San Francisco
3rd: KC 14 - SF 0
4th: KC 7 - SF 7
at Indianapolis
3rd: KC 6 - IND 0
4th: KC 0 - IND 10
at Houston
3rd: KC 10 - HOU 7
4th KC 7 - HOU 21
vs Jacksonville
3rd: KC 14 - JAX 7
4th: KC 14 - JAX 0
vs: Buffalo
3rd: KC 0 - BUF 3
4th: KC 3 - BUF 7
at Oakland
3rd: KC 3 - 14
4th: KC 7 - 6
KC has been outscored in the second half in 5 games, coming out with a record of 2-3 in these games. KC has a slight edge in outscoring opponents in the 3rd quarter, but 28 of those points came in blow out wins against San Fran and Jacksonville. KC has been outscored in the fourth by a 41 to 51 margins.
What I'm getting at here is that KC plays horribly in the second half of games, and this hints at a coaching problem one side and a possible lack of mental toughness on the side of the players. Granted, KC is fielding a young roster so this isn't terribly unexpected.
This team will not find success unless they put up 20+ points in the first half, and with this offense that doesn't seem plausible most games. Without looking at stats, the amount of scoring done in the 2nd half by opposing teams was probably carried on the back of the passing game, which KC isn't necessarily good at defending with such a young defensive backfield, especially when the best pass defending rookie is hurt.
