Totally unexpected. Dave Niehaus died today at 74 years of age. It seriously made me sad. I scoured youtube and couldn't find one of his famous "GET OUT THE RYE BREAD AND MUSTARD, GRANDMA, IT'S A GRAAAAAAND SALAMI!!!!" calls, but I did find one. And at least it's a good one. Rest in Peace, Dave. You were one of the GREAT ones.

RIP. Seems like a lot of the great baseball announcers are starting to pass away, guess thats what happens when you have old guys.

I had the opportunity to meet Mr. Niehaus many times when I was an technician at Safeco Field. One of the nicest guys in the business, man what are we going to do now. it it mr. ralley fries guy now? Lets bring in Jay Bruner...

Very very sad day indeed.

The announcer I grew up listening to has a cameo in this Meat loaf tune. he became senile in the 80's, but he was the shit in the 70's.

The good news is that he just got inducted into the baseball hall of fame.

I'm so glad that happened before he passed. Total class act, and he deserved it.

I'm convinced his son, Chip has early stage Dementia. He started his career SO strong and then folded. He's awful now, just terrible.
