Its true, the students pay him, but I doubt if he feels like he is the "employee" in this case. He could make his point and not be such a poop stain about it. And no student ever wants to fink on another student. That's just bad form.

It's not nice to interrupt a class by loudly yawning, whether that's on purpose or not. This guy just decided to be a douche about it, and wanted to call the offender out in front of the whole class. That shows a vindictive streak, which is probably why nobody wanted to rat out the responsible yawner.
Vindictive teachers can f*ck up your entire scholastic path. I had one screw up my master's program. I just ended up going to work in my chosen field anyway, and he died of a heart attack three months after F-ing with me. So God has a way of leveling the playing field.

I got sick one time in the middle of class and the teacher gave a pop quiz because she thought I was skipping out. I waited around after class and told her I threw up she didn't tell me what she did and everyone else laughed their ass off at the bar at me. I didn't do anything about it because it didn't effect my solid C grade in the class.

1) It seems as if this wasn't a one-time thing. Understandable that the professor would be pissed off if it's some recurring, distracting, rude message.
2) Yawning that loudly, so unnecessarily, is absolutely rude and deserving of a "going off."
3) The professor didn't seem like that much of a jackass.
4) If you would do this to your boss at a conference in "the real world," then you are a shitty employee that probably is not going to go far in the company.

This. I can't believe I'm getting old enough to say this, but it drives me fucking crazy the way students these days show disrespect. Teachers have laptop policies, and yet students are typing away on e-mails in the loudest way possible. I've been doing some recruiting for my company. Kids are walking in and out of the room, some of them texting in class. Better the teacher drill respect into these kids than a manager who can fire them.
Had one professor in my MBA program who chewed two people the fuck out for typing an e-mail in class. Another who would make fun of you to your face if you showed up even 2 seconds late for class. Best two professors in the program. And everybody paid complete attention.
I've seen a professor do this before. I can guarantee you nobody in the classroom did something stupid like that ever again.

The worst is when students all start putting their shit away 5 minutes before the lecture is done and the prof decides to talk over the noise instead of bitch people out. All it takes is one person to start it off. The sound of collective backpack zippers and paper turning annoys the shit out of me. I understand some people might have a class across campus almost immediately afterwards, and they wanna get out as fast as they can, but most of the time that isn't the case.

I would have enjoyed that for undergrad.
In Grad school, the only way to learn and get your money's worth is to get involved in the discussions. You just can't do that in an online format. THat's just my opinion.

I've done a mix of both online and traditional classes. They have both been through traditional 2 year (juco) and 4 year universities - not Phoenix University or anything like that.
Both had the same amount of work, for the most part. I'm only taking 2 classes this semester, one professor has a doctorate, one does not.
JUCO level classes - gen ed requirements out of the way, didn't learn a whole lot.
4 year university classes - learning quite a bit since it has to do more with what i'm interested in.
I've heard from some people that they don't care for online courses because they don't receive enough feedback. Sitting through many traditional classes, all I hear are stupid fucking questions and of course, personal anecdotes they just HAVE to share with the rest of the class...so, I guess I don't need that kind of feedback.

I could agree with that. The discussion board format (basically what we have on Chiefsplanet) doesn't is "OK" for undergrad classes but doesn't really offer a whole lot of insight.

That really wasn't that big of a "going off" segment. I have professors do that same thing all the time. Not from my actions but from others. Hell during rush week at MU I was in an auditorium and some frat guys (who weren't in the class) came busting in wearing a tank top and some cutoff "jorts" and had a mullet wig with fake redneck teeth and walked down the aisle and yelled out "which wonna y'all ****ed my twin sister"
Of course a lot of people started to laugh....and the professor just went apeshit and started to yell at people laughing and chased this guy out of the room. Happens all the time.

I think it's retarded to say that a yawn in anyway INTERRUPTED the class. I am almost 100% positive that nobody in that class gave a crap about the yawn besides this assclown. Like when people are talking in class, it doesn't bother me. It's called not listening.
Sometimes teachers just get a little frustrated, but it's no reason to act like an assclown over the slightest noise that you were probably lucky to hear in the first place.

What people don't realize is how one asshole can completely turn the class.
I used to see it every day as a grad student. One person gets on a laptop and 10 people are watching that person's screen from behind. One person yawns and 10 people around that person get the hint that they should be bored and disinterested too.
If there's anything I've found over the years it's that good professors are the ones with strict rules who have control over the classroom. You let one person get away with something distracting, and it sends a signal to everyone else that they can do it too.
