Christmas Vacation
It's a Wonderful Life

I kind of don't see a point in buying Christmas movies. All of those movies will be played for the next month. And I never find myself really wanting to watch a Christmas movie in June.

You HAVE to own It's a Wonderful Life. If you want a cute animated movie, try out Olive the Other Reindeer.. it's actually pretty good.

I think this is along the lines of what I'm going to look for this year. The old clay-mation Rudolph and Frosty, or the classic Charlie Brown Christmas.

Claymation Christmas (comes with Claymation Easter and Halloween specials too) A T. Rex and Rhino investigate the history of some Christmas carols with perfomances of them, including the California Raisins performing "Rudolph". The "big" deal is the origin/meaning of "Here We Come a ...... (popularly "Caroling") along with the Rhino's big appetitie. I really like some of the renditions of classic carols and the Claymation is pretty good. Of course it has sentimental value too.
Muppet Family Christmas is also a fave of the Smitty's. Unfortunately we haven't been able to find it on any media other than the VHS we recorded off the TV too many years ago to count.

I saw Nightmare Before Christmas on sale when I was at Borders last week. I thought about it, but I really think I'm leaning towards the animated classics this year. I'll just have to see what I can find.

I didn't grow up here. In England, they play f*cking Wizard of Oz on Boxing Day (which is the day after Christmas) for some weird reason.

I just have never gotten around to watching it, along with a bunch of other older films.

IMO, the classics are the best, but I'm a chick. I like the modern day action and comedy movies based around Christmas, but the classic just ooze charm and tradition. You need to make sure to watch:

It's A Wonderful Life
Scrooged (original)
Miracle On 34th Street (original)
