OK, I'm not gonna be around tonight so I am gonna make the official game thread. it's gonna be cold enough to make your penis do the turtles head with high winds.

Sanchez has usually been awful in weather like this. (the only exception being last years 2 Cincy games). Ladanian Tomlinson is getting tired from being rammed into the line on obvious running situations, and Shonn Greene has been fumble prone. will the Jets be able to run the ball? we shall see. will they be able to stop Brady with no pass rush? lol..we shall see.

Oh, and I'm 3-1 on holidays or non regular days where I start the game thread here.

The Jets cant rush the passer without bringing the house. your screen pass packages frighten me. the Jets cant cover the middle of the field. their slot cb's teh suck. I think they will move Revis to the slot to cover Welker, but their safeties are awful.

Your problem isn't Welker/Branch, I think, as much as it's Hernandez and Gronk. They're a handful for anybody, and with Leonhart out and your problesm with other TEs, I think they're likely to murder you.

That said, Keller and Holmes are likely to be a problem for us.

You pass rush can't suck worse than ours. We have none. Literally. NONE. Mike Wright might be back for us, which will definitely help.

With the cold/wind tonight, that should affect your passing game, which is a bit more vertical than ours, more than us. That plus being at home plus revenge factor gives me confidence.

So - who should Chiefs fans cheer for tonight? Which team should lose to help our playoff chances or does it not matter?

Doesn't matter for you guys. More thna likely, the Pats/Jets will take the 1 and 5 slots in the AFC. If Pats lose tonight, it will be VERY hard for them to ge tthe 1 slot. Nearly impossible. If Jets lose, they have a tough road to hoe to get to the 1 slot, but because they will have split with the Pats, it's still do-able.

Pats/Jets still have Bears left, which is tough. Jets have Steelers left, while Pats have Packers. So tonight doesn't decide all, but it's more critical for Pats than Jets.

Shouldn't matter to you guys any though, unless you think you'd rather have Jets or Pats in the 5 slot. Tough to project that far out as you guys might have the 3 seed and be facing the 6 anyway, which likely means RAvens/Steelers.

Yeah, Pats have been playing better and better since the Cleveland abomination.

The Jets miracle escapes have certianly been well noted. Of course, Pats had some near missess against Chargers, Ravens earlier this year too. But lately they've definitely been more solid.

Last game of the season last year was a night game, it was 2 degrees with 30mph winds. we tailgated at a friends house 5 minutes from the stadium and I snuck in a plastic flask of brandy under my skull cap. I was fine :)

Back in the day we used to smuggle a bottle of rum inside a loaf of Italian bread (My friend is a chef). hollowed out the center and made a flip top on top. that was before 9/11 of course.

Ok, I gotta leave work. but you know what they did in that pos new stadium the Jets have? no more spirals! they have these ramps that are probably at a 3 degree angle zig zagging back and forth like a z.you walk 100 miles and it now takes you about 45 minutes to get out of the stadium. but thank god there are no naked women on the spirals. that place is a death trap if something goes wrong there. people are gonna get stampeded.

Hey ari, how are your Royals doing?

Is he on Football Night In America or whatever it is prior to the Sunday Night game? Because I haven't watched that all year.

Bruschi annoys me for several reasons:

1) His voice. Horrific.

2) His bad, fat, stupid opinions.

3) He tries to be a tough guy on camera. It's hard to take him seriously.

Hey, D2112:

Who is going to cover Holmes? Do you think a rookie cornerback can stop him? Think back to two years ago when a rookie named Rodgers-Cromartie shadowed Holmes in the Super Bowl --

The Patriots secondary is inexperienced -- Besides, Keller, Edwards and Dockery (Dockery playing?), played well against the Patriots in the Jets win in September.

Sanchez should have all day to throw -- "The Patriots don't have much of a pass rush and rank 30th in pass sacks. They are also dead last in the NFL in pass defense and 28th in yards given up per play."

It should be noted, the Patriots play well in big games.

Go Jets!

Of course, it also seems like Santa is far too jolly to be living at the North Pole where it's freezing all the time. Plus, traveling all over the world in a convertible on really cold nights has to get to you eventually ... not to mention the occasional reindeer flatulence right smack in his face. Uploaded 15 minutes ago:

The Day the Patriots Empire Began to Crumble
By William C. Rhoden

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/12/07/sports/football/07rhoden.html?ref=sports

This is funny:

And on Monday night, McDaniels was fired as the Denver Broncos’ coach less than two weeks after the N.F.L. fined him $50,000 and the franchise another $50,000 when it learned the team’s director of video operations had recorded six minutes of the San Francisco 49ers’ walk-through the day before the teams met on Oct. 31 in London.

The employee was Steve Scarnecchia, identified by the N.F.L. as one of those who made improper videotapes while employed by the Patriots. McDaniels was a member of Belichick’s staff during the Super Bowl years; so was Scarnecchia.

Why would McDaniels hire Scarnecchia? Did he do it out of loyalty, or because he felt he needed the sort of edge that Scarnecchia could provide?

McDaniels said he never watched the tape, and the N.F.L. said it believed him. McDaniels was fined because he did not immediately report Scarnecchia to Broncos executives.

Everyone seems afraid of the physical teams. I'm not going to say we'd be able to line up and punch the Steelers in the mouth... but I think teams with great vertical speed are a worse matchup for us than a physical team. We can line up and run the football and stop the run. We can't stretch the field, and we don't have the pass rush to stop a relentless vertical attack. That's when we've got roasted.
