8 weeks too late for me to really really want it.

BUT, I'm very excited and a little nervous to see how Croyle can do on a better team. I don't believe his 2007 campaign is a fair judgement, considering how bad the entire team was. This is a completely different situation for him.

I think this is possible, the more I think of it. This is not a team that relies on the QB to win games, it is a team that relies on the QB not to lose games. If Weis has gotten in Brodie's ear and coached him up, and the line can block, there is a chance.

Wow, I'm kind of torn. The last few weeks I kind of almost started liking Cassel. When he ran down the field to throw blocks for JC in the Seasucks game, that was pure awsomeness!!!

Brodie can get the job done, I've wanted him to be successfull ever since we drafted him. I wasn't impressed with him during preseason as much as I thought I would be. I am going to where my #12 Croyle jursey this weekend if he gets the nod to star & apparently he may. Wow. Croyle can get rock star status or just bomb. I just want him to stay upright and throw the ball to our guys. He can do that he will be just fine.

No excuses for Brodie, this is his game to prove his worth to the team. I sure the hell am rooting for him. (Brodie to D Bowe TOUCHDOWN KANSAS CITY>>>camera shows Mrs.Croyle in the stands jumping up with some sweet southern tea<<<) Perfect.

I'm saying that cuz, I was disapointed for Croyle not starting the season. Croyle has been in the league long enough not to be a rookie, it's his job to make this team roll. I agree with you Huard Cassel has had all the excuses in the world and I remember Croyle getting 2.2 sec of line protection his first year starting. The Titans creamulitated him. I love Croyle, and I believe in him (only if he don't get hurt again) I don't want this team to have excuses, that's Herms way & not the Todd Haley way. JMHCFO.

I wonder if this will turn into Grbac vs. Gannon controversy 2.0? I'd love to see Brodie do well, but it would suck to have him get hot only to have him pulled in favor of Cassel in the playoffs and lose. At least it'll be interesting to see how he plays with a better line and running game.

I think the key to winning this game is in the Defense's hands anyway. Get to Rivers early, rattle him. And if our O can score early, we win.

I was thinking this too. But I know grbac had one good year. But I'm not sure he had the upside cassel has. Plus grbac was an aloof douche nozzle who never endeared himself to the team or the fans. I know there are a lot of fans who think cassel stinks but I think most chiefs fans can agree that he plays with a toughness and he seems to be respected by the team.

I think he's probably one of the better back up QB's in the league. Hasn't played in a long time... and he's going into a tough situation, but this is why we have him. And presumably, this is the chance he's been waiting for.

I'm interested to see what he can do with it. Can't say I'm very confident, but I wouldn't count him out.

This game is going to be on our defense, rushing game and Croyle's ability to manage the game and not turn the ball over. You can't just bench the guy for 27 games and throw him in there and not expect to miss a beat and have him slinging the ball all over the field. The hardest thing we are going to ask Croyle to do is stay healthy. If Palko has to come in we can just write off that game right then and there.

Brodie had a decent outing in Baltimore after "JESUS CHRIST, BRODIE!" with a limpdick LJ, total dogshit in the receiving game and mediocre protection.

Good thing is Weis and Haley have plenty of time to work him and and maybe throw in some wrinkles into the offense.

Yes, my #12 jersey is still relevent for now....Come on Brodie, you can do it!!

Just keep to the game plan and get the ball to your playmakers. My only concern is that if he has learned how to throw the touch pass. In the short and intermediate routes his flaming rockets might not get caught by our receivers. Hopefully they will have had time to acclimate to the differences in Croyle's and Cassel's throws.

D needs to step up again this week and shut Piddle Rivers down. Double team Gates, and stop Tolbert in his tracks and we should be good. On offense punch them in the mouth at the LOS and run them over like Oakland. When they sneak up a safety use Croyle's cannon to burn them deep with Moeaki, McCluster, or Tucker.

Well, we all need to get behind Brodie. Maybe it's a blessing in disguise. Coulda happened during a playoff game with no preparation. I think it's a good thing to get Brodie some playing time in a meaningful game. Does remind me of Grbac and Gannon though.

Brodie is gonna sling his badass shit all over the place. Hellfire is gonna rain down on the Boldtz cause it even says it in the good book!

For the path of the righteous QB is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of Teams. Blessed is he who, in the name of Chiefs and good will, shepherds the Team through the valley of the darkness, for he is truly The AFC's keeper and the finder of the playoffs. And he will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy The Chiefs. And you will know I am the Brodie when I lay My vengeance upon you."

Brodie Brodie he's our mans
he's got the wife with the big cans

As much as I slam Cassel, Brodie is even worse. I really don't understand the man crush that some on this board have for him. He never was, and never will be a starting quality QB.

I'm a Brodie fan. This weekend should be exciting!

And honestly, I'm not expecting a huge drop off in QB play. The system we run is specifically designed to alleviate pressure on the QB and take advantage of quick, safe plays. We haven't asked the QB to carry the team at any point. Our running game has been working.

This has all the makings of a great day from Croyle. Not worried in the slightest...

They're going to create a system called Air Croyle after his time in the NFL is done. It's going to be a very simple system pretty much consisting of 1 play:

80-YARD-DEEP BOMB. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

Not a great sample size, I'll grant you, but for the 15 minutes or so that we were allowed to watch practice, Brodie Croyle looked sharp.

16 24 66.7 177 7.4 2 0 116.1

OLine and the RB's got to step it up big time though.

I'l stand by, the fact Herm Edwards was coach for Croyle during his first few years out. The o-line was shit! LJ was shity kind of piece of shit! Carl Pukerson GM, the kid did not have much of a chance in hell for success. Now I am disapointed he didn't do enough this preseason to take over the starting QB duties, but I think he has a chance playing this sunday for great success against the Dolts. Croyle has shown he can play good and matriculate the ball down field like a field general on an artilery unit.

Joking aside, I hope it is very windy. If the conditions can neutralize Rivers passing attack, then that would be very favorable for the Chiefs if we got into a slow, grind it out running game.

I want to see Croyle succeed because this is an important game, but I have no idea where this confidence is coming from. He has a Career QB Rating of 70, has NEVER won a game for this team, can't stay healthy and hasn't taken a real NFL snap in over 12 months. Run the ball...run some more...play action...run...run again. Hope like hell your Special Teams takes advantage of the Chargers weak coverage unit (again) and that the Defense forces turnovers.

I think the Planet as a whole is underestimating how well Brodie can play in this system and with the coaching he has received from Weis.

If he could stay healthy, I think he is our best quarterback overall.

Croyle has the ability to not turn the ball over? 250 1 td 3 int. Chiefs lose 28-24.

Last game he played he had 2 TD's and no interceptions against the Ravens defense and that was with our 2009 offense starring Larry Johnson, Rudy Niswanger, unmentionalble WR's and the gang.

I don't see any evidence that suggests he's better than Cassel.
He certainly has the better arm, but I'm not convinced he's any more accurate... Or that he makes better decisions.

I can look at Cassel and point to 2008 and 2010 as evidence of what he can do.
Give me something I can hang my hat on with Croyle?

It is little things people have seen in Croyle with throws he can make using his arm strength that some QB's can not make. He also had a decent pocket prescence and a quick release. Look at his coaching for starters with Herm Edwards as HC, Mike Solari his OC his rookie year, Chan Gailey his OC in 08, Haley his OC last year and now Weiss. I don't think any of the guys that have been here from 06 or 07 ever had a very stable offense until now. Secondly take a look at his supporting cast when he began starting games for us at the end of the 07 season and into the 08 season.

His health has always been the thing holding him back and it always will be unfortunately. If he can stay healthy this game and get into a groove by the end of the 2nd quarter I think our offense will have a good shot at giving us enough points to win the game on Sunday. Croyle will never be our starter by choice but hopefully he can prove to be a valuable backup.

I guess I am trying to look at the whole picture here.

Croyle has started 9 games, all with a crap OL, crap WRs, NO defense and a BS run game (LJ even got hurt the week before Brodie took over and his first start was against Indyy in Indy and we lost by a FG in a gme where we missed two field goals.)...oh yeah, and with Herm as his coach.

Put Cassel on that team and he looks like he did last year and doesnt even do as well as Brodie IMO.

Put Brodie on that 2008 Patriots offense, under Josh McDaniels coaching (sounds funny doesnt it) and with that line, weapons and defense and he is perceived as a much hotter player than he is right now.

Look at the job Weis has done with Cassel this year, I think Brodie will show to be quite effective (even more so than Cassel) in this offense as a whole.

Time will tell if I am right again, or wrong.

I think the OL plays its best game in protecting Brodie.

With the way the current no salary cap situation is set up, do we own rights for 6 years...or 5. Hopefully its 6 and we will have a chance to put a tender on Brodie after this year, I wouldnt be a bit surprised to see a team cough up a 2nd or 3rd for him if he plays well.
