Thought I'd do this tonight before the rest of the league gets a game on our injury-prone QB.

Cassel now has a 53.7 percent completion percentage rate on third down and 46.1 percent completion rate over 10 yards.

A few weeks ago he was around 48/41.5. Only McNabb was worse on third down and he was 24th out of 29 quarterbacks in downfield passing at one time (http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showthread.php?t=235930&highlight=Cassel+24th). Obviously he has improved.

Third down rankings:

1. Kitna - 72.2
2. Garrad- 66.7

4. Ryan - 63
5. Ruthlessraper - 63.5

13. Favre – 52.9
14. Cutler – 51.9
15. Bradford – 51.2
16. Orton – 50.9
17. Manning – 50.8
18. Brady - 49.4
19. Vick - 49.2
20. Garrard – 49.2

27. Anderson - 39.2
28. Campbell - 36.3
29. Freeman - 33.8
30. Hill - 33.3

Other splits I find interesting:

1. Cassel's throws to the left sideline are terrible, apparently. His worst completion percentage (48.8), lowest YPA (5.54) and 2 of his 4 INT are to that side of the field.

2. Cassel's stats when we are behind are almost identical to his stats when we are ahead. In fact he has a better completion percentage when we are behind.

3. Cassel has not thrown an INT in the second half this year.

I cant help but notice... Cassel 2 > Sanchez 1.

Amazing that his dowfield ranking is superior to Peyton, seeing that going downfield is what Peyton is known to have a knack for.

Cassel is truly leaps and bounds beyond what I thought he would be this year. There really must be something to Weiss working with a QB.....

Manning is clearly struggling this year.

Manning is clearly struggling this year.

True. Injuries have fucked him six ways to Sunday.

This is a stat I don't even remember seeing (w/ the list of QBs I mean). I guess they show them by teams which is sort of the same thing, but still. Thanks for all of your threads, they are almost always really interesting/cool.

True. Injuries have ****ed him six ways to Sunday.

Injuries have played their part, but the fact is, Manning has struggled all season because his interior protection has broken down.

Lost Jake Scott after the '08 season, and Polian scapegoated Lilja for Manning's fuck up in the SB, and Manning has been paying the price for that stupidity all season.

I'd agree with that. Dilfer was hammering him one of the two instances I've watched ESPN this season, saying that he wasn't looking off receivers or going through progressions. He failed to mention that he was about to get deaded David Carr style.

His receivers are a lot of Indy's problem, but Manning's technical deficiencies, I believe, are due to protection. He didn't just forget how to look off safeties and CBs.

Matty needs a better WR option opposite of Bowe
