View Full Version : Life What's Your Christmas Dinner?

Some folks do ham since Thanksgiving just went by w/Turkey and trimmings. We have a different tradition due to my European wife. Fondue. This year it's meat fondue (chicken/beef/pork) with lotsa different dippin' sauces. Takes over an hour and the kids don't run off. Makes for a nice family dinner.

What's on your dinner table this year?

Beef tenderloin, pork tenderloin.

Spiral ham, filet mignon, maybe salmon and capers too.

One year I was giving out jumbo shrimp and lobster tails as hors dourves during the pre meal drunkfest..lol. all I know is that after I eat I become completely straight and start sweating. then I have to unbutton my pants to be able to sit at a 90 degree angle.

Last couple years it's been Alaskan King Crabs. The father in law has a buddy who supplies them. He has a place up there & brings the good shit down every year. A couple years ago it was razor clams, oysters & all you can eat AKC. The hides all had their own groceries, prime rib last year.

I don't know what we're having this year but it'll be good.

Many years ago during the summer, the mother in law invited me out cause they had just got a bushel of crab. She was cracking/cleaning them for me & I was shoveling them in. She's a sweetheart.

The AKC are huge. The big legs are like twice the size of a standard cigar, just awesome.

For Christmas Eve with my wife's family, we do fondue and crab legs with lots of wine. It's a good time and a good tradition.

At grandma's house, chicken and mole, tamales, and whatever liquor is brought over (usually crown royal).

Sam's has great crab legs, the meat that comes out of those things is like a frickin filet, none of that digging for crab scraps. FIL makes those every few months.

Ah, saw your location listed as Kansas City and wondered where you were going to get that combination. The Del Tacos around here are pretty shitty, but I hear out West/Southwest they are a step up.

McCausland just South of Clayton Rd and on Grand across from SLU. Both are pretty sketch. They built a couple of brand new ones out in St. Chuck, but the franchisee must have gone under because they closed down after just a year or so. You can never beat Jack in the Box's selection though. Tacos with breakfast food and mozzarella sticks. The best drunk food.
