Run DMC got nothing on Dan Connolly.

The NFL honored New England Patriots offensive lineman Dan Connolly with the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week for his historic 71-yard kickoff return in Sunday night’s win over the Green Bay Packers. Connolly’s second quarter runback set a new record for the longest return by a offensive lineman in NFL history, surpassing Mal Snider previous long with the Atlanta Falcons in 1969 by 23 yards.

The play also set up a crucial 3-yard TD pass to tight end Aaron Hernandez that narrowed the Patriots deficit to three points right before halftime.

Connolly is the first offensive lineman to be awarded the honor since Langston Walker of the Raiders won it in Week 12 of the 2004 season for blocking a field goal.

#26 got owned. OWNED. Connolly was too quick in the open field and too strong on the tackle attempt.

Sure, it was a good return, but let's see him rip off a long run with the game on the line, like John Tait did.

I wanna see him rip off three return tds when his team is down in the fourth quarter and Tom Brady is ineffective. Until then he is a fraud.

Inside the NFL had Pats LG Logan Mankins mic'd up after this play:

"You had this dream, I had this dream, everyone had this dream. We're living the dream through you."

I still fucking love watching this play. Unfortunately I couldn't see it live because I was still driving home from St. Louis but I did hear it on the radio live.

LOL @ the most "thumbs up'd" comment on the YouTube video...29 thumbs up for it so far

if you're not from the US, please shut the **** up about the video. no one cares if you don't understand the rules, like the game, or hate Americans. go watch one of your boring rugby, soccer or cricket matches and leave us alone.

That's one of those plays that are burned in your memory as a Chiefs fan.

I was at a sports bar surrounded by a huge crowd and all I remember at the end was yelling CHIEFS! and slapping fives with everyone.

And only in the playoffs or against the #1 defense in the country.

As impressive as it was, once there was a turnover return by Vince Wilfork where he stiff-armed a guy with the Heisman pose. My favorite Patriot pic ever, but I can't find the exact one. This one's close, though...
