View Full Version : Chiefs #3 seed versus #4 seed

RealSNR

Not much difference between the two, but I'm thinking I might prefer the 4 seed.

Baltimore/NYJ I don't really give a shit about. Bring them both on at Arrowhead and we'll take them.

But the next round? I'd much rather go to New England than go to Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh has the kind of stifling defense that would/could turn into the @San Diego game very quickly.

If we rest our starters and lose the game against Oakland, I'm fine with that, actually.

We could see a classic barn-burner between Cassel and Brady. 41-38. NE D isnt great, by any stretch.

I cannot stand this atttitude. Its the RAIDERS AT HOME! This is a must win game. You cannot go into the first playoff game with the needed morale by loosing to your most hated rival at home, especially when you are udefeated at home up to that point after the number of bad seasons that we have had.

It would be completely unacceptable and demoralizing to loose to the raiders next week.

Plus, Haley hates the Raiders. I just don't see this coaching staff, or players for that matter, letting anyone get away with an easy win.

RealSNR
12-28-2010, 09:45 AM
Well, if we do "go for the jugular" then we will have clinched the 3 seed. And I guess there's the (very good) chance that Baltimore/NYJ/Pittsburgh beat the Colts at home in the first round, which would give us a shot at Pittsburgh in the divisional.

I'd still like to test that New England team with our running game and see what Crennel's defense would do if they gameplanned for NE's tight ends. I guess we'll just have to win the divisional round too and go to the AFC Championship Game

Mr. Arrowhead
12-28-2010, 09:50 AM
another huge factor for 3 over 4 is its the NFL, so you never know whats gonna happen, so let say we win our first round game and then go into Pittsburg and upset them, and then Indy upset NE. So instead of us going to Indy for the AFC Championship game, it would be hosted at Arrowhead.

mnchiefsguy

No way does a largely inexperienced team when it comes to big games/winning want to head into the playoffs after a loss at home.

Glad to see Haley realizes the importance of keeping the psychological edge to his players by keeping the "mojo goin, baby!!"NE west is going to use the same process and procedures that has made NE East make a successful run of years. Bilecheck doesn't rest players, we won't either. We may pull them in the 4th quarter but they will play and work up a sweat to stay sharp. Thats all good, but, if Charles pulls a hammy we are done. If Cassell gets a concussion, we are done.

Isn't the next game the Raiders? If you are going to play the "only focus on the next game card", that is where you should want everyone's attention.

Even if you go to the playoffs, it's not 100% sure we will be playing the Jets. We should be focusing 71% of our attention on the Jets, 17% on the Steelers, and 12% on the Ravens. I think the Ravens are getting under-represented in the conversation.

This. I still think that the Ravens would give Brady fits and could win there. And if they did and we were able to duplicate what the Jets did then we'd be hosting the Championship game at Arrowhead.

And I'd love our chances there.

My preferences for the playoffs:

1. Jaguars
2. Jets
3. Ravens
4. Colts
5. Steelers
6. Patriots

For the most part, it's in ascending order of quarterback quality, which was not intentional but is probably related to my thinking.

Oh, and beat the mother-loving daylights out of the Raiders next week as a warmup.

Agree 100%.

The trends over the second half of the season (giving all these teams a week 17 win):

Chiefs: 6-2
Jets: 5-3
Ravens: 6-2
Steelers: 6-2
Jaguars: 5-3
Colts: 5-3
Patriots: 8-0

Frankly, the fact that they were able to win 10 games against any opponents is amazing progress and that was all I was looking for this year. If we can build on this season with the talent on this young team we'll be fine for many years to come...

Agreed. Not only is this valid because of who they are, but also because we could send them into the off-season with 3 losses in their last 4 games, and scratch this "undefeated division record" crap. Don't give them ANYTHING to feel good about.
