You nominate the moments here. On 12/30 I will make a thread to vote on the nominations. On 1/1 I will make a thread to vote for the winner (top 5 highest vote-getters from previous thread).

Anyways, nominate away.

I'm not going to include any Chiefs related things because then it would win hands down.

I was thinking, you should do something that ends up in a tournament bracket.

Like...put all of them in a single poll. Then take the top 16 and rank them by their votes they got, then do head to head where everyone votes on each head to head matchup in each round. Or is that too much work? Seems like more fun.

Dude, it's not like I nominated a Randy Orton vs John Cena match. Taker and HBK have been with that company for two decades and literally every person on this board knows who they are. If it was the mid 80's I can guarantee someone would have nominated the Hogan/Andre stuff, and this is the only thing that's come close to it. Pro wrestling is one the things I'm passionate towards but I don't even watch WWE, at all hardly. So I might be a tiny bit wrong, but I can guarantee you I'm not even close to the only person on this board who was amazed by the matches those two put on at the last two Wrestlemania's. And WWE is a sport.

Edit: Oh and I don't even know what that is. I'm guessing a movie? This is going to sound dumb, but I just started watching movies like 2 weeks ago, I never used to watch them at all unless I was on a date with my girlfriend. So I haven't seen many movies, and definitely not a newer one.

I agree it should be on there....I just with is wasn't because people will vote for it just because it's such a big USA moment and they will feel like they aren't patriotic if they don't vote for that. There were much better moments in sports with actual build-up to them or a great story behind them than that game. And hell, that'll get more votes than the Gold Medal Game because the USA won and Canada won the Gold Medal Game. If we're voting on the "best sports moment" I don't think that should be the case, but whatever. And no, I don't hate the USA or soccer.

LMAO

Since Buck already said no pro wrestling I won't get into it here, but saying it's not competitive makes you sound like a fucking idiot. Be my guest to take this over to the pro wrestling thread if you feel like getting owned.

And anyone who thought I was trolling with the undertaker/HBK match...I was not.

How is pro wrestling competing? The winner of the match is predetermined.

Donovan's goal will be talked about/replayed forever. Hands down the biggest moment in sports in the USA last year.

for soccer fans, maybe.

I wouldn't call myself a soccer fan by any means, but to leave it out of the top 5 is silly. It was a huge moment in sports in 2010.

Just nevermind. I guess to someone who's not passionate towards wrestling it's different, and I understand that. I fly across the country to wrestling shows 10-12 times per year and the winners of the matches is not meaningful hardly ever to me. I go to see good matches, who wins is usually irrelevant to real wrestling fans.

Then why shouldn't the hockey game be in the top 5? Because you're from America?

That's your 2010 moment of the year? It literaly wasn't even the biggest moment of that game.

I used to be "passionate towards wrestling" - but then I grew up. I understand the wrestlers are in very good physical shape that push their bodies to the limits to put on a show, but they aren't competing.

Fair enough. Well if he's gonna do the top 5 thing I doubt anything not already mentioned is going to make it. I still say the 16 moment tournament bracket with separate polls for each matchup would be more fun, though.

Really we're talking about the biggest moment in American sports. The biggest sports moment absolutely would depend on where you're from. The biggest moment worldwide was probably Spain winning the WC. The biggest moment in Canada was the Olympic hockey final, biggest moment in India was probably a cricket match or some shit. I just don't even think its debatable that the biggest moment in sports in the USA was Donovan's goal. Whether you enjoy soccer personally or not is irrelevant.

I don't think you understand the significance of that play. With that play, Tim Tebow became the first rookie QB ever to lead a team back from a 17 point deficit in his first home start. That play signifies the greatest sports moment of 2010.

You were still watching? Figured you would have turned it off at halftime

Surprised there's been no mention of Jacksons winning punt return/one of the greatest comebacks of all time. Wouldn't be my vote (I'd vote Donovan goal) but I think it should be mentioned before a lot of these other options.
