He's a free agent.

"They'll need to rebuild around here," Williams said, rocking next to his locker on Thursday afternoon. "It's going to be kind of rough. ... It'll be real rough."

Not as dominant as he once was but still tough to move in the middle (far moreso than Ron Edwards). He'd upgrade the run defense while other players are groomed, or give them another year to find the long-term solution, allowing them to target other needs to help them defend the division title.

I think he's a little too old to invest much if anything in.

No. At his age, theres no way he would be much of an upgrade over even Ron Edwards. We need to draft a guy, or something...But Williams is not the answer.

I'd like to get one in the draft as soon as possible, since they take 3 years to develop. Gotta keep this window open as long as possible.

Would have to be cheap to even consider and doubt that's happening.

This is why I wouldn't mind taking Williams if he could be had for the right price. Let the rook develop behind him or if he is better than you have some depth at the position.

And he wouldn't be paid or brought in as the answer. Make no mistake, he's far better than Ron Edwards, who is easily handled with a single blocker, and often dominated.

"Draft a guy or something" ... good luck with that. No rookie NT is going to do ANYTHING in 2011, and it's hard to imagine there will be any worthwhile NTs on the market. There are some guys scheduled for FA but they'll be franchised or locked up. Why? Because the position is damn hard to fill.

Depends on the price.

Sure, if this was five or six years ago.

During a Viqueen broadcast earlier this year the talking heads said he was about to be cut & they called him on the carpet & he ended up stepping up to the plate.
