To me this whole year seemed like Weis and Pioli doing each other a favor now.

If it was just the New England pedigree. Fine. I can deal w/ that.

But when given the opportunity to lead a team; he wrecked it. I just don't think there are going to be players that respect him.

Maybe him getting canned took him down a notch. But like every other N.E. coach that's come along so far. He obviously wouldn't be the first coordinator who failed as a head coach and had success going back to being a coordinator.

Greg Olson in Tampa. Look at what he's done with Josh Freeman. He can be an Assistant Head Coach/Offensive Coordinator.

Jason Garrett since it's becoming clearer that Jeff Fisher will probably migrate to Dallas. He has the persona to handle the drama, the Jerryinator and is a pretty damn good coach. That makes Fisher ideal for Dallas. Garrett and Haley are 2 young bucks who both know offenses. Plus Garrett would finally have a legit QB to coach up. (IMO, Tony Romo is grossly overrated).

Nick Mironni (sp). I am glad that Adam Teicher pointed this dude out. He's been Cassel's BFF all season.

Norm Chow is a dynamic option as well.

Google search turns up speculation for Olson being under contract next year and not so who knows. Until his contract status is known i think he is a choice as rumors of Haley being interested have been out there since he was hired and their past.

Nick Sirianni i could see an increased role for sure. Just wonder how much and the structure of play calling and responsibilities. In such a case a vet like David Lee from Miami would make sense to buffer the first year or two.

Garret would be like McDaniels in that it sounds good i just hope there wouldn't be potential drama.

of course Haley is the head coach, you stupid piece of shit ... but as the head coach he needs to be smart enough to not hire a guy like Charlie Weis if he's going to want to babysit the offense all the time.

If Haley wants to mother hen the offense then he should go out and hire the offensive version of Gunther Cunningham. Someone without enough brains or pride to worry about whether his calls are being overruled.

This shit happens all the time in the NFL and its not a distraction as long as its not the HEAD COACH (see Parcells New England). In 2004 both Weis and Crennel had landed jobs, everyone knew it, and the Patriots kicked ass and won the Super Bowl. Wisenhunt in Pittsburgh 2005 too. Assistants on playoff teams are in a tough spot because teams want to get going hiring their coaches. The Chiefs just haven't been in this position for a long time.

No, Todd Haley needs to hire the person he thinks gives the Chiefs the best chance for success.

The person he hires has to understand that he is not the fucking boss.

Weis gave the Chiefs the best chance for success, but ultimately the team's success or failure falls at Haley feet, so he has to do what he thinks is best for this team.

While I think "motherhen" is embellishing just so you can bitch and moan about Haley, if he thinks he needs to motherhen, then fuck it, he gets to do it.

Once again you have to give Weis credit. In 1994 he was the Patriots Tight Ends coach and Ben Coates had his best year with 96 catches. 1995 he was running backs coach and Curtis Martin had his best season as a rookie. In 1996 he was receivers coach and Terry Glenn had his best season with 90 catches. He got the Jets offense moving in 1997 with Neil fucking O'Donnell at qb and later Testicleverde. Then the magic with the Patriots 2001-2004. Now look who's had their best seasons. Matt Cassel. Dwayne Bowe. A league leading running game. Charlie Weis will fail miserably in Florida because he's NOT a head coach. But as an OC he's a genius.

Weis was brought in to fix Cassel. He's done just that. He's been quoted in either this thread or the other long Weis thread saying that this was Haley's team. In the other thread, someone said that Haley was calling 10-15 plays per game. And the HC usually post their nose in the defense or offense depending on if they were an offensive or defensive assistant before they became HC. I don't see how that's a problem.

I can't call it yet. I'm hoping we can pry someone away from another team like Fla did with Weis. Because at this point I don't like our options outside of Josh. I like Sirriani but I guess the Chiefs aren't ready to give him that big of a promotion yet.

I smell someone in house to take over.

I believe you are right. My educated guess would be Nick Sirianni.

The 49ers would be idiots if they hired him. Please hire him, Jed York.
