These are the things that happen when you spend extended time with family during the holidays. You end up compiling an "All-Rookie" team.
Stats are accurate up to last Sunday.
QB: Sam Bradford. He’s cooled off significantly as of late, but 18 TDs against 14 picks and a six win improvement, even in the worst division in the history of professional sports, shows that he deserves the honor. I would be a bit concerned by his ridiculously low YPA given his completion %. He’s a dump off machine at this point, but that’s a smart thing to do for a young QB.
RB: LeGarrette Blount. Tennessee probably wishes they wouldn’t have pissed him away, as Chris Johnson is showing that he really needs a compliment to be his most effective. 941 yards on only 182 carries is very impressive. Jahvid Best was a solid honorable mention here.
WR: Mike Williams. Everyone thought he was a head case coming out of college, but all he has done so far is produce. Has 10 TDs and almost 1000 yards as a rookie
WR: Dez Bryant. Fought through ankle injuries to put up a solid rookie campaign. He’s been far more explosive as a returner than a receiver, but he looks promising.
TE: Rob Gronkowski. Has fewer receptions and yards than Hernandez or Moeaki, but he has 9 TDs and is a devastating blocker. Although Hernandez has the best overall stats, Moeaki has been better, as he’s a far more effective blocker. The extremely raw, but uber-talented Jimmy Graham has come on late as well, and Shockey will be out on his ass next year in New Orleans.
KR/PR: Marc Mariani. 25.2 yards on kicks w/ a TD, plus another PR TD and 4 20+ yard kick returns. Brandon Banks was excellent here as well.
LOT: Rodger Saffold. Unseated a #2 overall pick as a rookie and protected Bradford’s blind side very well all year. Looks like a 10 year starter.
LG: Mike Iupati. Solid throughout the year.
C: Maurkice Pouncey. Another in a seemingly endless line of amazing Pittsburgh centers. He’s already their best OL by far and one of the best interior lineman in the conference.
RG: John Jerry. Most people seem pretty pleased with his play.
RT: Brian Bulaga. He's not even that good, but he wins by default. Anthony Davis has been fucking horrible (7 sacks allowed as a RT).
DE: Carlos Dunlap. With eight sacks as a rookie, he’s looking like the potential top five pick he was billed to be before his junior season, and not the second rounder he ended up being.
DT: Ndamukong Suh. Nine sacks from a DT is ridiculous. Nine sacks from a rookie DT is unheard of. Barring injury, he’s a Hall of Famer.
DT: Tyson Alualu. Everyone hated this pick at #11. Unfortunately, this Tyson who was a reach is playing up to, and beyond, his draft position.
DE: Lamarr Houston. He’s an active player who is doing a solid job of getting after the QB. He’s a monstrous left end, at 305 pounds.
OLB/DE: Koa Misi. A pure pass rusher only, but as a 3-4 OLB, he’s going to be an ace player for a long time.
OLB: Pat Angerer. Been a solid player. He’s never going to be a pro bowler, but he’ll be a good starter for a number of years.
MLB: Darryl Washington. Has played on a horrible team, but he’s been more solid than Rolando McClain with far less help on defense, and put up the same numbers with 4 fewer starts.
OLB: Sean Weatherspoon. When on the field, he’s been a really good player. No one really deserves this spot, but if you were going to put one up for it, he’s been the best of the rest. He was looking like a lock for a 100 tackle season before hurting his knee.
FS: Earl Thomas. A classic ballhawk.
SS: Eric Berry. In many years, he’d be the DROY. Hopefully the people bitching about him shut up.
CB: Joe Haden. Like Brandon Flowers, proves that 40 times aren’t everything for CBs. He’ll be a pro bowler sooner than later
CB: Devin McCourty. Makes plays all over the field
