I'll say this... I like that we have a defensive focused head coach. There's a boatload of work to be done on that side of the ball.

I don't know if he was the best candidate, but he certainly wasn't the worst. Now, get out there and fix that defense.

I'm okay with this. Obviously he's not a terrible coach, but he doesn't strike fear in me either.

This means that Mike McCoy is most likely staying in Denver since he was in Carolina with Fox two years ago. Don't know if I'm happy with that or not.... I guess it will be a good thing for Tebow having someone he is familiar with. Hopefully Fox keeps Ben McDaniels as well.

FOX’S BACKGROUND IS ON DEFENSE, and he already knows that much of the Broncos’ rebuilding will be concentrated there. He coached 4-3 defenses in Carolina and from 1997-2001 as the New York Giants’ defensive coordinator, but said running a 3-4 alignment wouldn’t be a problem.

“Not really. It’s semantics,” Fox said. “Obviously there are some personnel things that aren’t that deep-seated. Everybody plays under/over, whether you originate out of the 3-4 or 4-3..

I haven't followed the Panthers enough to know how they are as an organization... aggressive in FA, paying big money to get good players, etc. All I do know is that he was 5-3 in the playoffs since 2002. You have to go back to the 60's to find 5 playoff wins for KC.

I mention KC to annoy KC fans... sorry.

No, Fox never won the SB in his 9 years of coaching. Fox did get to the SB though... if the measuring stick is 'only hire a HC that has won a SB', then you have a very shallow pool to fish. What did Vermeil do for KC? He won a SB, but it didn't matter in KC.

Fox on a whole does have an average body of work, only slightly above .500 in wins. We'll see how he does with his second team. Shanahan needed to walk away and take time off... he was not going to fix the defense.

BINGO ... fix the defense. Find an OC that can work with what they have now, while bringing in an actual pass catching TE and another RB to help out.

Other than that - bring back Champ and focus 80% of the efforts in FA and the Draft on Defense.

OK, genious.

Do you have some proof that John Fox is not an overly conservative retard who is stuck in the 50s? Because certainly all the evidence points that way.

What we do know is this: you are a total Broncos homer who predicted a successful season this for the Broncos, even in the midst of a less than .500 start (don't make me bump the thread), and when Jay Cutler was about to be traded you insisted he would remain a Bronco. You said, quote, "this will all blow over."

And then when he was traded, you immediately switched sides and insisted it was a good thing for the Broncos and McDaniels was awesome.

I'm interested to see what the coaching staff looks like and if they are actually going to trade a few guys (rumors have been Orton, DJ Williams, maybe Royal) for extra picks. If they did trade those guys, they could pick up 3-4 extra picks in Rounds 2-4, and they'll need all they can get.

Then, it's up to Ellis, Elway, Xanders and team to not screw up the draft.

Fox hates developing QBs.

It's an awful hire.

I thought Moore had the potential to be something decent. But then he sucked this year.

Mile High is just running the same garbage he always does.

Everything the Broncos do is good at first.

Everything.

Have you ever disagreed with a move when it happens?

I bet if I dug deep enough I could find you pimping Jarvis Moss.

Only in Mile High Mania's retarded world.

Anquan Boldin wasn't worth a flipping 2nd. He's not even a starting WR.

Ha! You must have me mistaken for someone else... I've never applauded everything they do 100% of the time. And, regarding Fox ... I've not really provided a ringing endorsement of him either - you didn't see any "whoo hoos" from any of my postings.

Fox has an average record, but he's defensive focus and he's had playoff success... those are the positives that I am clinging to on this one. I wanted Rivera.

Jarvis Moss - I'd love to know my feedback on that one. Go find it, gimp.

Regarding Boldin - were those my quotes? You'll have to prove it.. and I'm guessing you can, so go do it.

There was but they all declined because of the team being cheap or Elway now being in charge

Next year you'll be in the top 5 in the NFL in rushing attempts using a power style running game, despite the fact that your line works far better in space than at the point of attack.

makes sense you'd hire a stable, if dull, coach after the spectacular flame out of mcfail.....

The one interesting thing will be his contract and if he atleast made as much as he did in Carolina. He didn't have the choice of say Childress who has at least 1 year left. Fox's Carolina deal ran out in the next two months if not sooner.

I just can't see how ANYBODY with any brain cells would hire a coach that just led a team that he's coached for NINE years to the #1 pick in the draft. All I can think is that Pioli fired McDaniels with a pat on the back and put Elway on the payroll.

I'm surprised, given the Panthers complete free-fall, that he got a HC job so quick.

I think Fox is a good, not great, coach, who with the right personnel will do a decent job. I think (hope) that he will switch Denver back to 4-3, because the fewer teams that runt hat, the better it is for the Patriots.

I hope for Denver's sake that they have a good personnel guy running that show.

johnelway (http://twitter.com/#%21/johnelway) John Elway

I am excited to announce that John Fox has agreed to terms to become the 14th head coach in Denver Broncos history.

Ok, flame away...

Fox was not their first choice and I don't think the right choice but he is a "safe" choice with NFL experience who has been to a Super Bowl. They're still paying the Rat and they have to pay off McDaniels. Plus McDaniels set them so far back that they could not afford to hire another dummy. He's nothing special, more of a coaching re-tread, but he doesn't suck. I would not want him coaching my team - but I hate Denver so I'm glad he's there.
