Come on Jr / Stewart!!

that would make a great finish -- you know they would race side by side on the money lap

I thought earlier this week that this new style of plate racing would be exciting, but it isn't. It's like a damn IROC race......only 400 miles too long. Everyone has the same piece and has nothing to do with how a car handles or what kind of power the motor is making.
It's only about a one-two lap run they get. I mean jfc Robby Gordon led laps under green.......and done his typical bumper car shit. One of my favorite sporting events to watch "plate racing" has morphed into something else. It'll take 3-5 years of age to get Daytona back to being Daytona where how a car handles makes a difference. Can't wait....

Lap 203 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 16: David Ragan is black-flagged for changing lanes too soon on the restart. Robby Gordon gets loose but saves the car. As drivers avoid Gordon, they connect and wreck. Dale Earnhardt Jr. has heavy damage. Ryan Newman goes into the wall and collects Martin Truex Jr. as Kyle Busch heads to pit road.

16. TREVOR BAYNE: If you want to be among the first to pull for this promising rookie, you could reap the rewards down the line. There's few things more satisfying than rooting for a team or athlete before they've achieved anything of note, then tag along for the ride to the top. Bayne is a polite young guy with a load of potential (and is vocal about his religion, for those of you who are into that). He'll drive a partial Cup schedule this season. (** I read that Trevor is planning to drive 17 Cup races for the Wood Brothers this season – though he could drive more if they find sponsorship. He's been recognized throughout the garage as a very talented rookie driver. Carl Edwards, Kevin Harvick among others have reached out to him. I'm not sure -- but I think Trevor drives for Roush Fenway in Nationwide -- I could be wrong)

No. 21 has impressive list of drivers fill its seat

Wood Brothers dominate the number's rich Cup history

June 12, 2009

Bill Elliott, in the No. 21 Ford, fielded by Wood Brothers Racing. That one line has it all: Legendary driver, legendary team -- and a legendary number.

The number has visited Victory Lane 90 times in Cup Series competition, a total shared among 17 drivers. No other car number has had so many different winners.

Arguably, no other car number has had so many great drivers behind the wheel. David Pearson, Cale Yarborough, Buddy Baker, A.J. Foyt, Tim Flock, Marvin Panch and Curtis Turner all drove the 21. Pearson had the most victories in the ride, 43, that total coming in 157 starts, another high for the 21.

Elliott is the latest of the greatest to take over the No. 21, albeit in a limited role. Both Elliott and the Wood Brothers compete part-time these days.

In 1969, Yarborough was in the No. 21 and won the track's first Cup event. Pearson had eight MIS wins in the 21 during the 1970s. Dale Jarrett drove the 21 in '91 at MIS, capturing his very first Cup win. And then there's Elliott, with seven MIS wins in his storied career, although none came driving the 21.

The Wood Brothers first fielded the No. 21 in 1953, with team founder Glen Wood in the seat.

"Somehow along the way we ended up with 21," said Glen's son Len, now a part-owner of the team. "The story goes that there was somebody from South Carolina who had 21 and it was really running fast, so we numbered our car 21 in hopes it would be fast as well.

Wish I had seen this earlier....I was cussing #99 all day long wondering if he was going to race like he was scared again like he did a few races last year.

But it looks like he ran a smart race....and avoided all the big crashes. I thought for sure he was going to drift to the front until the Rookie made the good move to take away the inside.

Good finish Carl.

Man been a while since I have been on here, WTF happened to all my rep?

There has been some melt downs. The same ass kissing idiots have been running rep threads and and begging for rep. DaFace should reset it every week as it has been funny watching people grovel for rep. Good to see you around again~

Capacity 67,000

When looking at how well a driver does at Phoenix International Raceway, also consider their performance at New Hampshire, Martinsville & Richmond because they are very flat tracks.

Nascar has been running there since 1988. That track is a unique race track based shape based the fact the track has a curve between turns two and three.

Phoenix International Raceway started to have two cup dates in 2005. Jimmie Johnson has the most wins here with 4. Davey Allison, Mark Martin, Jeff Burton, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Kevin Harvick are tied 2nd with 2 wins here a each.

Track is more on the driver than the equipment here. It is an unusual tri-oval shape, more like a "D" shape. This is because the owner did not wish to alter the infield road course to accommodate a traditional NASCAR oval.

In 2005, the track hosted a second NASCAR race, replacing the spring race formerly held at Darlington Raceway, in South Carolina.

One of the only tracks designed for open wheel that usually always puts on a good show for NASCAR stock cars.

Last weeks parlay wasn't crazy enough I guess, since I hit it so I went with a 5-way at 18-1.
To win I need Both Bush brothers to finish ahead of Hamlin and Bowyer to finish ahead of McMurray, Martin, and Logano.
I know betting on NASCAR is stupid, but I tend to have better than average luck with it and it often gives me a new guy to pull for or against. And I NEVER put more than $10 on a parlay.

I like 18 cause he pisses everybody off and I like 11 because I work for Fedex....

Boys I live here in NC, I live about 4 miles from Kyle Petty who is a helluva nice guy and his wife is too, I live about the same distance from Terry Labonnte...

When I used to run the city I delivered to Directly to Mark Martin, Dale Earnhardt , Bobby Labonte, Adam Petty (Kyles son who died at NH)

I delivered freight to many many nascar shops, We see them in the local walmarts and grocery stores...

Nicest driver I think I ever met was Bobby Labonte...

To be honest, I am not a HUGE Nascar fan, I was one of those guys who loved to hate Earnhardt but never regained the feel for Nascar after he died...
I have been to Charlotte, Darlington, Rockingham, and Martinsville, may try to go to Bristol this year since everybody is broke and tickets are easy to get now....

Shepherd catches shoplifter: Most NASCAR drivers don't come to mind when you think of Las Vegas crimefighters, but then again, most NASCAR drivers aren't 69-year-old Morgan Shepherd. The veteran of 44 NASCAR seasons was getting out of his rental car in the parking lot of a Wal-Mart store Monday evening just minutes away from Las Vegas Motor Speedway just as three men burst from the store's entrance with security forces trailing behind. Thats when Shepherd, a daily jogger and fitness perfectionist, sprang into action. "I just got out and took off after them," Shepherd said. "I caught one of them just as they were getting ready to hop a little wall at the end of the parking lot. I yanked him down and got on top of him." Shepherd said in a matter of seconds a Las Vegas police officer pitched the ageless NASCAR driver a pair and handcuffs and continued pursuit of the other two suspects, along with the store's security force. "I cuffed him and sat on top of him," Shepherd said. "The police department officers showed up and asked if I could hold him a while longer while they ran down the others. I told them he wasn't going anywhere." Shepherd said while the young shoplifter pleaded with him to let him go and about the possibility of going to jail, Shepherd used the time to lecture the youth about his poor choices. NASCAR Cup Series: The Kolbalt Tools 400

When: Sunday, March 6; 3:14 p.m./et. FOX

The Track: Las Vegas Motor Speedway

Las Vegas Motor Speedway is a 1.5 mile tri-oval that was reconfigured in 2007 when the banking on the corners was been increased from 12 degrees to 20 degrees. Roush Fenway Racing and Hendrick Motorsports have mostly dominated races at the track since it opened in 1998.

Key to Race: BEAT THE BIG BOYS

There have been 12 races run at Las Vegas Motor Speedway since it opened and cars from the Roush-Fenway and Hendrick Motorsports have won 10 of them. The ability these teams have to experiment with multiple setups gives them a better chance to win the race.

Top 5

No. 48 Jimmie Johnson: Johnson has won four of the past six races at Las Vegas. This is about as big of a lock as we will have all season so feel free to safely use the No. 48 in all leagues.
No. 18 Kyle Busch: Busch won the 2009 race in Vegas and has six straight top 15 finishes at his hometown track. He is a great pick this weekend.
No. 24 Jeff Gordon: Gordon has finished in the top six in five of the last six races at Vegas. He should be in the lead pack again.
No. 16 Greg Biffle: Biffle has been great the past three races at Vegas. He is a fast choice.
No. 5 Mark Martin: Martin has notched seven top five finishes in 13 career starts at Vegas. He is a great option this weekend.

6 to 10

No. 31 Jeff Burton: Burton has nine top 11 finishes in 13 career starts at Vegas. He will be one of the top cars.
No. 99 Carl Edwards: Edwards won the 2008 race at Las Vegas. He will have a top 10 car again this weekend.
No. 17 Matt Kenseth: Kenseth has won two of the last eight races at Vegas. He shouldn't have a problem cracking the top 10.
No. 11 Denny Hamlin: Hamlin has finished outside the top 10 just two times during his career at Vegas. We like his chances.
No. 29 Kevin Harvick: Harvick has averaged a 10th place finish at Vegas the past six years. He should be a top 10 finisher again on Sunday.

11 to 20

No. 4 Kasey Kahne: Kahne has five top 11 finishes and two 35th or worse finishes at Vegas in his career. We expect he will be pushing to crack the top 10 on Sunday.
No. 14 Tony Stewart: Stewart has been a top five finisher at Vegas four times. He will be right around the top 10 this weekend.
No. 33 Clint Bowyer: Bowyer has back-to-back top 15 finishes at Vegas. He is a solid choice.
No. 22 Kurt Busch: Busch has been inconsistent in Vegas during his career. This isn't a great weekend to use the deuce-deuce.
No. 42 Juan Pablo Montoya: Montoya is off to a great start this season. Vegas isn't a great track for him, but we expect he won't have an issue cracking the top 20.
No. 20 Joey Logano: Logano has struggled so far this season, but we think he will turn it around this weekend. Now is a good time to grab "Sliced Bread" in all fantasy leagues.
No. 39 Ryan Newman: Newman has been terrific so far this season. He should have the No. 39 inside the top 20 when the checkers fly on Sunday afternoon.
No. 88 Dale Earnhardt Jr.: Junior has four consecutive top 16 finishes in Sin City. We expect he will have a strong car again.
No. 00 David Reutimann: Reutimann is off to an awful start to the 2011 season. He is a good buy-low option this weekend at a track where he has had past success.
No. 1 Jamie McMurray: McMurray always has followed up a bad race at Vegas with a solid finish at the track the next year. He came in 34th last year so we expect he will be back inside the top 20 this visit.

21 to 30

No. 56 Martin Truex Jr.: Truex has averaged a 19th place finish at Las Vegas during his career. We predict he will finish right around his average.
No. 6 David Ragan: Ragan has been hit-or-miss at Vegas during his career. He is a bit of a risky pick on Sunday.
No. 83 Brian Vickers: Vickers has cracked the top 20 just once in five career starts at Las Vegas. This might be a rare weekend we recommend shying away from the No. 83 car.
No. 43 A.J. Allmendinger: Allmendinger is ranked fourth in the points right now. We don't recommend adding him immediately, but he is worth keeping an eye on, there is no doubt he has talent.
No. 2 Brad Keselowski: The new Blue Deuce driver has been average so far this year. He was terrible at Vegas last year and we would only use him as a fourth driver this weekend.
No. 27 Paul Menard: Menard is off to a terrific start this season. For those of you in deep leagues he is someone to grab immediately.
No. 9 Marcos Ambrose: Ambrose has cracked the top 20 in both of his career starts at Las Vegas. He is worth using in deep leagues.
No. 13 Casey Mears: Las Vegas is one of the best tracks for Mears. If there is ever a weekend to use him it is this one.
No. 47 Bobby Labonte: Bobby has been rejuvenated in the No. 47 car this year. He has had past success at LVMS and could crack the top 25 with a little luck.
No. 21 Trevor Bayne: We hope you followed the advice from last week's column and didn't rush out and grab Bayne. There is no doubt in our mind that he will be a top driver, but that is still several years down the road.

Field Fillers

No. 78 Regan Smith
No. 34 David Gilliland
No. 7 Robby Gordon
No. 87 Joe Nemechek
No. 32 Terry Labonte
No. 71 Andy Lally
No. 46 J.J. Yeley
No. 36 Dave Blaney
No. 09 Bill Elliott
No. 38 Travis Kvapil
No. 60 Landon Cassill
No. 37 Tony Raines
No. 66 Michael McDowell
No. 92 Brian Keselowski

Thanks Dylan.

It's a pretty simple pot. There are 14 people in it. I draw a random numbered chip out of a bag for spots 1-14. Then I do the same for numbers 15-28. Then I do the same for 29-42/43.

I randomly drew pole positions 2, 28, and 35. If any of those drivers win then I win $25. If any of those drivers come in second place I get $12.

Last week I randomly drew pole position #20, and Jeff Gordon won me some money. It's not like a fantasy thing where there is any sort of skill or real management involved. It's just gambling for the sake of gambling. Luck of the draw.

Does Bowyer or Gilliland have even a slim chance of finishing in the Top 2?

Did you read the article? http://l.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons7/23.gif

On Saturday, ESPN's broadcast of the Nationwide race at 3 p.m. ET (prerace at 2:30) will be impacted in various markets by college basketball and other sports telecasts. While this may send some devotees of NASCAR who simply must devour every instant of prerace coverage into fits, fear not: ESPN has released a list of the affected markets, along with ways to find the race on their digital tier (DT) stations. Everyone's going to get the race, don't worry.

Collect that money! My buddy went to a race out in VA and said it was an awesome time. I was a bit skeptical, but I actually wouldn't mind going to a race at the KS Speedway here. Mostly for the tailgating, but I'm sure it could be interesting in it's own right.

Who's the bastard driver that races dirty and tries to wreck people the most?

And why do people seem to hate Jeff Gordon?

LMAO PostRockPablo, I'd like to keep my flesh intact around here ...

Let's put it this way. I know what EVERY driver will do if they find themselves in a split second situation. They're lack of decision is fearless -- Some drivers push past that no matter the outcome ... In my opinion, knowing that, gets you hooked on this sport.

I'll let you know... http://www.underlinfamily.com/guestbook/smileys/happy.gif

Most of the Earnhardt Sr fans disliked Jeff Gordon. Jeff was young, talented and very competitive. Jeff's a great driver/

NASCAR fans "hate" the driver that is feuding with their driver -- which results in these drivers crashing each other out -- over & over.

I'm not sure what he is thinking. Kyle Busch had such a fast car. He led over 80 laps of the first 126 laps with 70 something to go. Why the big run at that point in the race? Why not wait?

Love the driver -- But, hate when he drives completely crazy.

I know most of the guys here said that it is a great track to watch a race.

It's beautiful: http://www.kansasspeedway.com/

http://stats.onpitrow.com/images/tracks/kansas-speedway.jpg

Location: Kansas City, KS
Type of Track: Speedway
Length: 1.500 miles
Shape: Tri-oval
Banking: 15°

When looking at how well a driver does at Kansas Speedway, also consider their performance at California, Michigan & Chicage because of their moderate banking & length.
