I searched the forum, didn't see anything to my surprise.

Here. (http://www.tmz.com/2011/01/21/keith-olbermann-fired-comcast-countdown-msnbc-contract-cable-news-network-pay-or-play/)

Sources connected with the network tell us ... Comcast honchos did not like Keith's defiance and the way he played in the sandbox.

Our sources say Keith has around two years left on his contract, and he'll be paid his salary -- around $7 million a year.

We don't know if Comcast will let Keith make a deal with another network as part of an exit agreement, but it's a good bet he'll be benched for a minimum of 6 months, and probably longer.

Mods, maybe you should go ahead and move this to DC.

Not a problem. He'll turn up soon again. He's too good an entertainer not to...

to the fury of his hate-crowd.

More like at the the bottom of a cliff, or shallow grave. He is one useless waste of skin.

No chance. They hated his guts at ESPN. I have never heard anyone who knows the guy say anything positive about him as a person. Everyone who has ever spent time around him seems to think that he's an insufferable prick.

Olbermann's tenure at ESPN was characteristically contentious. One of his co-anchors, Suzy Kolber, has said that Olbermann was sometimes so overbearing that she would lock herself in the bathroom and cry. Another colleague, Mike Soltys, has said that when Olbermann left the network, in 1997, "he didn't burn bridges here-he napalmed them."

Might as well just fold that network up. He was probably the only reason anybody watched it.

He was better than anybody they had at ESPN, but he hated being in Bristol, Connecticut. He never made any attempt to hide that he wanted something more than to be a SportsCenter anchor.

his sports takes were worse than the the political takes. He will be missed like a pimple on the ass.

Agree to disagree I guess. But ESPN Sports Center was always highlighted by Dan and Keith. They had a great chemistry and really grew that companies persona not to mention their pocketbooks with that tandem.

I doubt it..same parent company...MSNBC/NBC...see a connection...If the company CEO fired you from one he's not likely to keep KO around for the other....

+1

The joke sportscenter commercials were his idea as well. He and Patrick did some hilarious ones.
