I really don't have a well thought out solution or proposal to fix it, but I have some ideas that are percolating.

Each rep should be sent to a committee comprised of three annually elected posters who decide whether the post in question is worthy of the rep, be it negative or positive. They will then vote on whether the rep should be allowed. If the rep is disallowed, the repper can appeal to the CP Supreme Rep Court, which is made up of 9 posters who are appointed for life by the CP president. The CPSRC will decide whether to see the case, and if they do, they will compile opinions and present a majority decision.

This would have to be a full-time job for the members of the committee and the CPSRC, but as I see it, it's the only way to lend credibility to the system.

Eh, it's new, and it's the beginning of the offseason. It'll calm down to its previous level of stupidity once people get used to it.

In retrospect, though, I should have reset everyone to 1000 or so or something. I think the issue right now is that it's possible to put long-term posters in the red since everyone started out so low. Oh well.

Explanation:

Aliens were abducting posters on this board to conduct experiments on their private parts. At first there weren't all that many so those people were dismissed as crackpots. Over the years the stories became so numerous that suspicion of a government cover up began to take root. The situation was causing panic in some cases. As in all other conspiracies, people wanted answers but weren't getting any so they started blaming the posters and using the rep count as proof of involvement. The admins couldn't control the aliens but they could do the next best thing. Set the rep count back to zero to protect everyone's identity.

I dislike the fact that I can only give out so much rep in 24 hours. What if someone says something funny after I run out of rep? My attention span isn't long enough to remember tomorrow that I wanted to rep someone yesterday.
