Just wondering what you guys feel about this kid. I tend to like his style of play. A bit undersized but he is a Matthews and they tend to play better in the NFL than in college. He had 9 sacks this year and is someone who could stick with a TE. Only 235ish so he is small but is there any chance he can be a hybrid ILB/(OLB on passing downs) or maybe just be an undersized OLB?

I think if we want him it will cost a 2nd but he could fall to the 3rd. But i think he can be the type of player his bro is and i am down with that and would maybe take a chance on the kid in rd 2.

Thoughts?

With the way Asomoah stepped in and played LB last year there is no need to draft another one.

I'm all for anyone in the Matthews bloodline even their younger cousin Bootsy.

I'd draft the Matthew's cat.

If he's still there in the 5th I'd draft him, but his name will likely bump him passed his actual play.

I'd take him in the 5th round......but he's going to get drafted higher than he should.

not with highlight reels like the one posted above.

Ya i have no doubt that he will be drafted higher than he should but I just like the way he plays. Prob not the edge rusher we are looking for but he knows how to blitz the inside. He will go in the 2nd round. I like him though

Casey Matthews is really not a good fit for the Chiefs D.

Casey is much better suited for a 4-3 like Seattle, where the MLB calls the shots and blitzes a lot over the center, like Lofa Tatupu

As a 3-4 ILB, Casey would be OK, but not special.

Casey is not the edge rusher his bro is, not close. Casey is a solid player who should have a good NFL career in the right system, but if you think adding him to KC will turbo the Chief pass rush, you didn't pay enough attention.

Casey blitzed a ridiculously high percent of the time for Oregon, either immediate or delayed, and almost never "beat a block" to make a TFL or a sack.

Comparing him to his bro on the basis of college "sacks" is ludicrous.

I wasn't impressed with him when I saw him play to be honest.

He could be the next Boomer Grigsby!

He's very intelligent, but slow. He would be behind Belcher in our scheme, Belcher possesses more upside, and Matthews has limited fluidity in coverage. Just my opinion.

That obviously wasn’t a "highlight reel". These kind of tapes, (single game/ play by play), are the best kind for judging a player’s on field ability.
I’ve watched tapes like this on 2009 Quinn and they blew me away.
Needless to say Casey wont be as good as Clay until he finds Clay’s “Doctor”, if you know what I mean.;)
