The sad thing is Dave Duerson in his present condition would pass for only 70 less yards than Cassel did against the Ravens and for less money.

Sad...I loved the 85 Bears.

I was thinking about the '85 Bears the other day when Richard Dent was given Willie Roaf's Hall of Fame slot.

Were the Bears defenses really so good that they should have three Hall of Famers? I look at Dent, Dan Hampton, and Singletary, and there's no doubt that they were all in the top ten percent of the league in their prime, but I also kind of think the system made that defense more than the players. And if you want to talk about the most dominating players in their prime, I'd lean more toward Wilbur Marshall and Gary Fencik and maybe even Doug Plank on that defense. The three HoFers were very good, but Marshall and Fencik and Plank were scary.

Found out about Grigsby, Duerson, and Dwayne McDuffie of Justice League in the span of 5 minutes.

Re: me and football, the first time I was aware at all of the very existence of FB was getting my first 'Boys Life' in November of 1980 with Terry Bradshaw on the cover. With no TV in the house, FB stayed at a distance for me for a while. But the '85 Bears were my first FB crush. Dino Hackett got me into the Chiefs, and DT sealed the deal for all time right out of the gate. But the Bears were first.
