Tebow is a “man without much support in Denver”

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/02/22/report-tebow-is-a-man-without-much-support-in-denver/

We’ve got something that Broncos head honcho John Elway may feel forced to address on Twitter.

NFL.com’s Michael Lombardi writes that Tebow is a “man without much support in Denver” from the remaining staff.

“Most members of the Broncos who were there when the Tebow pick was made are looking to distance themselves from the choice, which is a classic way for things to operate in the NFL,” Lombardi writes.

(The report says no one complained about the pick last year because they wanted to be loyal to Josh McDaniels.)

Lombardi has hinted around at the lack of support for Tebow before, but never this strongly. It makes you wonder who, exactly, isn’t in love with Tebow that was with the organization last year. For Tebow to move forward as a “franchise quarterback,” he will need the support of guys like G.M. Brian Xanders and offensive coordinator Mike McCoy.

There are a lot of reasons this information could come out. Perhaps it’s an early smokescreen from the Broncos that they will consider taking a quarterback in the No. 2 overall slot. Perhaps the news is coming from a former employee with an axe to grind.

Maybe it’s just the the simple, unvarnished truth with no agenda. (But that would be no fun.)

I know everyone hates him, but he did have an awesome finish to the season; looked like he was way farther along than anyone gave him credit for.

Lombardi is friends with McDaniels. He would rather make everyone in Denver look like clowns than write something unbiased and truthful.

Well, the support for Tebow from fans in Denver is very high, so reporting that the FO of the Broncos doesn't like him makes the fans unhappy with Elway and the like.

If they think they have a shot at trading Orton after the new labor deal, why would they deflate the value now by saying they are all in on Tebow? It will play out soon, I think they will go with Tebow, but who knows. There is a lot at stake and if the reality is Orton is the best option... Then they will go with him. The new regime didn't draft him, so we shall see.

I think everybody in the Broncos organization is intrigued by Tebow. I know for a fact Pat Bowlen would LOVE to see him succeed and will want Elway/Xanders/Fox to make sure that they give Tebow every opportunity to prove himself.

I think there's a better chance Pat Bowlen doesn't remember Tebow is even on the team.

Tebow = Cashcow. If he becomes a legit franchise QB he will be more popular than Michael Jordan in his prime.

This is due, in large part, to Denver's close proximity to Florida. :D

He's much taller, and he has far better throwing mechanics and footwork, even if Tebow has tweaked his shotput approach.

I would pay $1,000 to see Tebow sing this in Karaoke:

Lombardi's conclusion about Tebow not having much support could be true, but his basis for that conclusion in the article was just weak.

-TT wasn't pick by Fox (no shit)
-carryovers are now voicing their concern about the pick (who exactly is voicing a concern, I'm not sure unless it's Elway's comments, but he's not a carryover)
-no one said anything negative about the pick last year when it was made

That's it.

Knowmo is cooler than those high school parents who think their kid is the greatest athlete. When in reality if the team had tryouts, the kid wouldn't have made the team.

Don't need to be marketable when you have NFL qb talent.

You keep telling yourself that. In 5 years, if Tebow isn't in the league anymore, I wouldn't expect a whole lot of people buying Tebow jerseys.

Also, one inch taller (according to nfl.com) = much taller?
