SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Former Kansas City Chiefs running-back Ed Podolak is hospitalized in Arizona after he was hit by a car.
Scottsdale police say the 63-year-old Podolak was not inside a crosswalk when he was hit. Officers say the driver of the car that hit Podolak tried to brake but couldn't stop fast enough. His injuries are described as non-life-threatening.
The University of Iowa graduate spent all nine of his NFL seasons with the Chiefs. Podalak rushed for 4,451 yards and 34 touchdowns. He's the Chiefs fourth all-time leading rusher. Podalak has spent the last three decades as a color commentator for Iowa Hawkeyes football.
